I work in programming and it was really cool at first to hear them actually talk about computers and hacking in a realistic way but on the second watch, it just felt like they were beating you over the head with it. Okay, cool, we get it - you guys know what a Raspberry Pi is.

Then, there is the fact that they decided to call the antagonists, Evil Corp. Seriously, you're really gonna be that lazy? If the characters in Star Wars referred to Darth Vader as "Evil Guy", I would think it's the lamest shit in the world. Also, calling your hacking group "Fuck Society" is just as bad as Evil Corp. These issues really ruined the show for me.

Nonetheless, the acting is amazing and Rami Malek is probably the most realistic drug addict I've ever seen.

Elliot is the only one who refers to them as "Evil Corp"

They are called E-Corp, not Evil Corp.

Not sure why people people still complain about Evill Corp, it's explicitly stated that Elliot conditioned himself to hear that instead of E Corp.

well he hears other people say it too, but you'll notice that it's only referred to as "evil corp" in his presence, which means he's conditioned to hear it, like the previous poster stated.

IIRC someone else did refer to it as Evil Corp without Elliot there. It might have been Darlene (which would make sense), but it also might have been Angela in an Angela/Ollie scene. I barely remember it from my Season 1 rewatch.

Was curious so I looked it up on the wikia page. Found this:

    • Elliot states that he replaces "E Corp" with "Evil Corp" whenever he perceives the name. He also states that Krista would be bothered by this. Later, this is demonstrated when he "hears" Angela say "Evil Corp."

    It wasn't that/Elliot wasn't there.

Yeah, i understand that. I'm saying that it would be like everybody in the Star Wars universe referring to him as Darth Vader and then Luke calls him "Evil Man". It's just lame as fuck.

You're trying to tell me that they never meant for it to be interpreted as Fuck Society?

As a fan of the show, I found that to be lame as well, considering the show excelled in thrills, that part just came off as sophomoric. I may be wrong but was it referred to as Evil Corp. at all this season? Like are they walking back against it?

I'm pretty sure I've heard the name Evil Corp multiple times this season . I hope I'm not crazy haha

Then they should have just left it at E-Corp instead of the main character repeatedly calling them Evil Corp.

Watched this weeks episode today and I'm feeling like I'm the only one who didn't like the sitcom scene. Didn't really see a point in it and it made me feel like they're just trying to have a reason for an extended episode each week. I did think the scenes with Angela and Darlene were the highlights of this episode. Really interested in where that goes. Just didn't care much for the Elliot stuff this week.

Was worth it just for the Alf scenes. So out of nowhere I loved that it was a recurring gag,

I didn't mind the Alf scenes or them getting creative with it. I just felt like this didn't advance anything for Elliot, but maybe it'll pay off more next episode.

I mean, he learned to accept that his "father"/Mr. Robot is there to help him and seems to be giving into Mr. Robot now, so that seems like it advanced a lot. Also showed a lot about his childhood, his fears of Tyrell's fate (or possible truth of his fate...), and appears he is learning to take Mr. Robots advice to "keep your eyes on the road in front of you" (meaning, finish what he started, pushing past the rest).

'Mr. Robot': 5 Key Takeaways From That Sitcom Sequence has some takeaways from it.

I feel like it did a fair bit for his advancement , but then again, the episode seemed to focus more on the other members of f society, which I was totally cool with and was great. I can understand wanting a bit more from Elliot in the ep, too, though.

Yeah thanks, I'll check that post out. To me, it seemed like this would have maybe been a better realization if he wasn't laid up in a hospital bed considering at the moment he can't really act on it much. And then he was taken to a different location and is by himself, so I suppose I just would've loved to see Elliot himself actual do something outside of his own head that is.

I'm not out on this show, I'm just hoping it pays off well like season one did. It's not quite there for me yet.

Yeah, I totally get what you're saying- the show has dragged a bit in parts this season, but I feel like those slow parts have still driven some good story/plot points, and it definitely seems to be picking up steam now.

I did miss having a bit more Elliot, but considering how much of him we've had, and how little his scenes have had to do with f society this season, I'm happy to cut to the larger group actually getting things done :)

One thing I wish they handled better at the beginning was Dominique's situation from the end of the prior episode, though. I kind of wish they had just picked up where they left off, because she still looked quite screwed at the end there.

Yeah I think that was the best part of this episode for me. While we don't know exactly what they've accomplished yet after getting into the system, I think next episode will answer a lot of that. I have a review going up on this episode hopefully today or tomorrow. But it's essentially what I mentioned here in probably just more words haha.
