I will always be on team BIOMY. Honestly don't understand the hate it got when it was released. It still gets better each time I listen to it.

 

Everytime it comes on it makes me smile.

 

I’m glad all of Nine doesn’t sound like BIOMY, but I really enjoy it.Gets stuck in your head so easily.

 

blame it on my youth and the first time are the only 2 songs from nine that have stuck with me at all.

no dislike for the album or anything, but i haven't felt any desire to return to it after the first 2 or 3 listens

 

“The First Time” is my least fav opener by the band.

 

Mine too for sure, but I do like the melodies

 

i completely forgot darkside exists. that song's cool

 

I like it way more than "Ghost On The Dance Floor". I like Ghost, but boy was I disappointed when I found out it was the opening track. I was convinced they would kick down the door with the opening song since it was their comeback album. Didn't happen haha.

The chorus in First Time rules though. Very TOYPAJ, especially the ending when it picks up.

 

Hot take: The First Time is better than Cynical.

 

"The First Time" just hasn't totally clicked with me for some reason. That one and "Happy Days" are probably my 2 least favorites on Nine. There's so many other ones I loooove though.

 

So uh...why don't we list their best openers...never done that before...nope never lol

I'm not so good on hearing specific instruments all of the time, unless it's like really obvious. But I actually really like this song (I had to just listen now as I'd never heard it before). I'll continue my thoughts below...

Well, I personally don't hear it as a "Blink" song, but that's another reason I like it! I mean, I think they needed to reinvent themselves with the loss of Tom and addition of Matt. It honestly reminds me of The Used, like Mark's recent collab with them. I really really like Lighthouse. I think it really opened my eyes more to Mark...but that's the voice aspect, not his bass playing. I've recently seen/heard some examples of his bass talent though. I think it was on Carousel(??). It was an older song. One where he has a solo at the intro.

 

Well, Anthem of 2 has the MOST nostalgia for me. I knew immediately that the follow up album to Enema was going to be epic!
I was also very pleased that Feeling This was the next album's opener.

And, while I don't have the same memory of this one, Dumpweed is also a great opener!

What are the other openers? I can't remember. Carousel?? I love that song, but not sure as an opener. Was Up All Night an opener?? I also love that song, but not sure as an opener. Wait...didn't Someone just mention this? Lol

Edit: oh, it was Ghost on that album! Yeah, pretty weak. The song is not bad, but not their best either.

Hotter take: it’s WAY better than Cynical. I’m not a fan of California as a whole though so I’m biased.

 

Nuclear Take: The First Time is the best song on Nine.
