ya except the police uphold the property norms that prevent poor people, addicts, houseless persons, and single parents from getting adequate access to food and shelter independent of their financial and employment status. you know, those norms that forced that child to need to try to do that in the first place

 

I wonder how many meals they could have provided the kids if they weren't buying all that liquor.

 

Wait so an officer helps one kid and suddenly the entire history of policing isn't racist?

Good for him, he did his job instead of murdering the kid. Idk how that excuses all the bodies we've seen pile up.

It's always suspect to me when pictures/videos are taken by the cops doing shit like handing out ice cream. What do they want? A pat on the back for not murdering anyone that day?

 

For the most part they're looking for good PR

 

Yeah why do people expect it to be celebrated when they do their job?

They already get a reward for doing their job, it's called pay, good benefits, and absolute freedom from the law as it applies to most civilians. That's enough imo.

 

One really unnerved me the other day. The cops were pulling people over and giving them icecream. They pulled over a black woman and you could see it in her eyes/face that she was terrified and holding back tears.That's not how it's supposed to be and it makes me sick.

 

Once in a quick stop restaurant I saw a Latino cop being genuinely nice and conversational to this man who didn't have a home and they were joking around like they were familiar from being from the same neighborhood, like the cop sees him a lot on his stops or something. I remember it being sweet cause it's like the only time a cop didn't intimidate and freak me out. But yeah that didn't make me feel better about cops as a whole. Heck I got home last night and there was a cop parked across the street and I felt the opposite of safe. I think I'm too pale to get much flak from them but I still carry a sense of uneasiness idk.

 

"Can you stop killing us?"

"We can get you ice cream. That's the best we can do."

 

just shows how out of touch they are. as if ice cream is any consolation after having the shit scared out of you/being put in mortal danger.

 

Use reverse psychology. Start demanding ice cream.
