Lol I'm imagining trying to predict the 2016 election in 2012 (or even the 2020 election in 2020)

2024 may as well be 10 years away as far as I'm concerned

People posting their coin conspiracy on Facebook and being worried about being tracked while actively being tracked by Facebook is some galaxy brain stuff. I have seen more of that today than I expected.

As a progressive, I find John Kasich's viewpoints to be pretty abhorrent on pretty much everything. And regarding the convention, if you're going to invite someone with these stances, where do you draw the line?

However, in the 2016 Republican primaries, he earned 310,003 votes in Pennsylvania, 153,509 votes in Wisconsin, and 321,115 votes in Michigan. In the general, Clinton ended up losing those states by 44,292 votes; 22,748 votes; and 10,704 votes, respectively. He even had a fairly respectable approval rating of around 50% for both Ohio Democrats and Republican alike when he left office.

My bigger concern than Kasich simply speaking is if he does so in exchange for something like a Cabinet position, which could absolutely be the case here. Overall, though, for the Biden camp, it's smart electoral strategy and pretty much the opposite of what the Trump campaign is doing by continuously narrowing its base.

Once Biden is (hopefully) elected, then I think that's really the time to pressure the new administration to cut-and-run from the Kasichs, Rick Wilsons, John Weavers, etc, and remind them that their repugnant views preclude them from a spot in "the room where it happens" in any Democrat administration.

John Kasich has some awful views but not like any of them will be given a platform in his speech at the convention. He will more than likely focus on the direct threat a second term of Trump poses in terms of our standing with the world and reckless decisions most domestic and foreign policy-wise.

In terms of republicans actively supporting Biden, I don’t think any democrat will say “John Kasich is speaking in favor of Biden? Well I can’t vote for him now”. On the other hand, I do believe there are some republican voters out there who greatly admire Kasich and seeing him make the case will convince them and as fowruok said, could be some important states.

Not saying it will be many votes, but in the system we have at this point in time, any net positive in votes is a good thing

I look at Kasich as being used basically as a character witness for Biden to moderate Republican on the fencers

Hmm...so what case was the judge or the DA involved in with Trump or a explicitly right wing group/social issue?
