Progressives are more likely to be “get Trump out at all costs”, where as swing voters aren’t as ardent about that. This helps more than it hurts.

 

Keep this policy forever.

 

Imo turning the Democratic Party into a big tent party running the gamut of progressives to moderate republicans is not a good thing in the long run

Kasich, the Lincoln Project, etc. isn’t going to convert republican voters into democratic voters. It’s not going to turn a significant number of Trump voters into Biden voters. It’s just going to take the professional apparatus of the DC-based Republican Party from a decade ago that now finds themselves on the outside looking in on their own party (because the GOP base has rejected them), and transplant them into decision-making positions for the Democratic Party. Which should terrify and disappoint anyone who considers themselves a democrat or democratic voter.

 

Either that or find a republican in 2024 and be like "Look we supported Biden in 2020 we're the reasonable ones here vote for us"

 

You may be right, and maybe Kasich is setting himself up to be that candidate, but that person will win <15% of the GOP primary vote lol

 

GOP primary in 2024 is gonna be wild and horrifying.

my gut still tells me Haley runs away with it, but GOP voters are wild and unpredictable so it could really go a million different ways from Don Jr or Tucker to Romney so who knows maybe Kasich has a shot too

 

If he runs, Don Jr. is going to win and he'll get his ass beat in the general like his daddy.

But I suppose the political climate of the GOP could change by then after 4 years of a Biden presidency.
