People up in here being like "but my XP!" yet completely ignoring everything else that makes the franchise great: the writing, the characters, the music and the environments.

The battle mechanic is really cool who cares about xp. Some of the puzzles are challenging to complete in the 20 or 30 seconds you are allowed. And you take a decent amount of damage if you can't eliminate the enemies in the first round.

 

Idk if it has been posted in here already but the 3DS e-shop is being shut down at the end of the month.

 

Shit. I’ve been debating whether to get one as a Zelda machine, but haven’t pulled the trigger. Doubt I will in the next month.

I know it’s Nintendo, so the answer is no, but any chance this starts the conversion of the 3DS library to Switch?

 

I went and quickly looked this up because it was the first I'd heard of it and it seems like it's only being closed in regions where it's operating as a "limited" eShop, mostly just being Latin America and Carribean countries, according to Nintendo's website.

I didn't find anything in the immediate search results suggesting that regions with "full" eShops will be having them shut down, but obviously still sucks if you're from one of the affected countries.

 

I just saw that too, the person I saw talking about it must have misunderstood

It seems Mexico and Brazil are not going to be effected by this though.

 

So general consensus on Paper Mario is that it's pretty fun? I have like 10 games and haven't beaten any of them yet so I'm trying to decide if I pull the trigger on it now or wait it out since I have plenty to still keep me occupied.

 

I picked up Paper Mario this morning. I’m having a blast with it. Super funny.

 

How does Paper Mario stack up against YCW in terms of fun and difficulty-level? Loved that game

Also, fuck, I forgot about coins in the eShop. I have like $10 saved up and could have used that heh. I wish they'd just apply it automatically like Google Play credits on Android's app store

 

It’s very well-written and visually stunning, just don’t expect an RPG experience because it isn’t one.

 

paper mario has a laugh out loud moment every 100 steps or something. i really didn’t exect the game to be that funny. the toads are amazing.

 

The writing is stronger in this one than the series has seen in a while. It’s also funnier than the last couple Mario & Luigi games as well. The writing and localization teams deserve a lot of praise.

 

Also I’m only on my way to the second streamer (less than 10 hours in) and I’ve already started avoiding most battles. So, yeah.

I don’t mind the battle system. Everyone seemed a bit concerned about it. I’m only like 5 hours in though. I’d just like it to get a bit more challenging. I’d like to get my ass kicked at least once.

 

I can confirm this. Not that it’s actually funny, but that Z finds it funny and posts it to his insta story with some level of frequency. But what he posts is funny, so make of this information what you will.
