He has admitted to being diagnosed bipolar and has also continuously said he doesn’t take the meds that his psychiatrist prescribed to him, there is no speculation in that post

    hey you lil piss baby

I did not accuse you of speculation. Him speaking about the fact that he does no take medication does not give anyone free reign to shout for him to “take his meds” anytime he’s spouting off. I made two other posts expanding on my position but the fact that you’re only concerned with “well he said he doesn’t take medication” tells me enough.

Literally the only other thing my post said was that this is depressing, I haven’t tried to excuse him or anything at all. Fair enough about it not being right for me to tell somebody else to take their meds though, he just sounds a TON like my cousin who also is bipolar and had a really bad mental episode like a year ago when he went off his meds. He got super deep into religion without really having a full understanding besides the surface level stuff which sounds directly like what’s happening here. Again, not making excuses, it’s very irresponsible for someone in Kanye’s position to be saying shit like this, it’s just really concerning because I recognize the behavior and despite the dumb ass shit he’s said over the past few years I still worry about his health because he was such an important artist to me. I’ll concede that I obviously don’t know him personally like my cousin though, that’s a good point.

And I was just responding directly to what you said to me, I hadn’t read the rest yet

  4. anyways had the "tough" talk with myself and sold all my Yeezy's today - can't selfishly justify owning his shoes any longer

We really shouldn't worry about Kanye "Slavery Was a Choice" West. He has millions upon millions of dollars and also is horrible.

We shouldn't have worried about Kanye "Bill Cosby Innocent" West back before Pablo dropped, lol

Or Kanye "I own your child" West. I think that's really when I lost all respect for him

The quotes in that article were way more coherent than I was expecting - those aren't the hallmark words of someone mentally ill, just someone vehemently religious.

You could say "same thing" and I probably wouldn't disagree. Look at this album title. What were y'all expecting this guy to say?

  9. I mean you can be a Christian and still not be a hateful piece of shit

I'm not sure if boasting about selling the shoes is a good look Drew.

  11. I’m not boasting about anything - that’s why I put tough in quotations cuz it’s something I should have done years ago

  12. I know quite a few vehemently religious people that have never come close to any of the inane shit in that interview.

True, you can be a moderate anything. You're not much of a fundamentalist without being a hateful piece of shit though.

Well and anecdotally I know hundreds of vehemently religious people who sound exactly like this all day every day. The common thread here being religion and not mental illness - take the religious speak out of that Kanye interview and its at least 75% more sane.

He's still an asshole, to be sure, but if there's a glaring culprit that's caused his brain to disconnect even further the past few years, its belief.

  14. The common thread there seems to be (staggering) ignorance, as many of these things are also uttered by people that are not religious. Taking the religious speak out doesn't make all the ignorant things better or more "sane," it just highlights how we've allowed religion to be used a crutch for deeply ignorant statements.

It’s probably best for everyone to just let Kanye go finally.

You can acknowledge his past work as being important to the genre and music in general but it’s time to let him go.
