MLS is back tonight! As an Orlando City fan, I hope we just don't get embarrassed and actually compete in this silly tournament.

Yup. The reasoning given is largely that he went a long way into the stand, pursuing the fan after he'd stopped whatever was going on with his brother and also caused a problem in one of the exits.

 

I mean, I don't like the ruling but I get why they did it. You just can't allow players to go into the stands like that. I know Dier was acting to protect his brother, but it could've led to a very bad situation. Not bringing down a punishment would create a slippery slope for further incidents and rulings.

It just sucks they waited so long to make a ruling. Dier has been our best defender and the NLD is this weekend.

 

Yeah it’s pretty fucking weird it took so long after the break and the restart to ban him. I thought they just forgot.

I agree on the basis that a player jumping into the stand is a public order problem and potentially endangers the crowd, but I also don't much care for fans abusing the players' family and friends and thinking they can get away with it. I don't know the details of what happened with this one (also, happened ages ago), but seems the guy soon shut up and tried to make his escape once an athlete hopped a fence to have some choice words with him.

 

I agree with all of this, but in the FA's eyes the correct action would be to let one of the security guys know what's happening and have them handle the situation (and have the club take action against the individual). But in the heat of the moment, after a disappointing loss, and considering it was his brother, I understand why Dier acted in the way he did.

I only ask because the team President for the new Charlotte team was the COO for City for a handful of years. If Silva wanted to come to MLS, I'd hope Charlotte at least makes an offer. No clue if that connection matters at all.

I think D Silva was expected to go to China earlier but new rumors are saying MLS. Possibly Inter Miami. It'll be interesting to see who would play for Becks.

 

I think Beckham and Miami are an attraction for players, but the stadium situation is going to be a huge turnoff. The stadium they're using now (supposedly temporary) is kind of a dump and in the middle of nowhere. I think it's like an hour from the city.

Miami + Beckham sounds flashy but then you look at the facilities and it's the opposite of flashy haha

 

Let alone the Coronavirus situation in Miami, and the US as a whole. I wonder how that will play out in the market for MLS.
