Just... Wow. Nerds are truely the worst. Imagine being so angry about a game having strong female and LGBTQ+ characters that you threaten to kill people.

 

It's almost like they missed the message of the game about hate and anger.

Saw a post where someone was complaining about TLOU2 and saying how hard it is to be a straight white male gamer these days because developers don't respect him anymore and I laughed for a good 10 minutes

 

Straight white males are peaking in shitty opinions these days, that's no small feat.

There are legitimate complaints to be made about TLOU2, just like there were legitimate complaints to be made about TLOU1. It’s an overall good game that has some real flaws. People that can’t deal with that without becoming, like, irrationally angry and throwing a tantrum need to kind of grow up and realize that these are just video games and people are allowed to not think something is a perfect 10/10 just because they do.

It’s annoying as shit to try and actually talk about the game around anyone who falls on either of the two extremes tbh.

 

I think the problem here is that people are directing anti-Semitic and homophobic comments and death threats to the developers and voice actors rather than any of us complaining about legitimate criticism here...nobody said people can’t like it. It’s when those people decide to wish cancer on the families of the developer and the toxic community decide to review-bomb a game out of spite for it just having LGBTQ characters.

 

I’m not talking about those people.

As I said, it’s annoying as shit to try and actually talk about the game around anyone who falls on either of the two extremes tbh. Whether it’s people who hate it for bigoted reasons or people who have devoted their entire online personas to defending it against any and all criticism.

 

I don’t think there’s many people here who devote their entire online persona to defending it against all criticism. Look at the official thread for the game here and there’s plenty of healthy discussion and criticism for the game. I’ve seen far more of the toxicity than I have of those gatekeeping legitimate criticism.

 

There’s tons of it all over the internet. It’s exhausting to try and talk about the game pretty much anywhere.

 

Can definitely agree it’s exhausting.

 

That is a huge problem in the video game discourse that definitely holds back the medium as a whole
