The support for Johnson isn't surprising whatsoever. It has everything to do with the candidates nominated for the Republican and Democratic parties.

Really no different than Perot in '92. This is just on a grander scale.

It's a hold your nose and select election for sure this year.

No, because people, even Sanders supporters, are by and large either 1. Completely uninformed, 2. Idiots, or 3. A combination of both.

Most people don't understand libertarianism. They think that it means they can smoke weed with impunity and have a social safety net, even if they don't know they take advantage of the latter. Ask any person if they believe in unemployment insurance, they'll likely say yes, but they'll vote for Johnson because they do not understand that that is on the table to be eradicated.

  6. Even eome of the ones who understand to some extent are naive imo. Some incredible philanthropist will provide unemployment insurance. For-profit industry regulation will spontaneously appear, allowing a transparent view of environmental impact and treatment of employees, allowing people to vote with their dollars, causing bad companies to go out of business. People will only work for good companies because employment is totally voluntary.

Is the "Feel the Johnson" slogan a joke? It has to be right?

Its funny to watch people who claim to be "socially liberal economically moderate/conservative" try to reason how every social issue beyond drugs and gay marriage is actually an economic issue.

Libertarians don't know anything about political economy.

The silly idea that principled and informed consumption will marginalize shitty companies is the most infuriating libertarian talking point in my opinion. I mean, the presumption that American consumers in particular are in any way morally informed is hilarious given our country's obsession with brands like Nestle, Coca Cola, etc., or our complete disregard for the evils of industrialized meat consumption.

I always imagine people looking at rates of illiteracy, infant mortality, average age, and poverty in the early 1900's and thinking, "yeah, that's the world that we should be living in".

Friend of mine recently decided to declare himself a libertarian. When I pressed him on it he said he wants a "socially progressive president who is in favor of a free-market economy." He didn't really have an answer when I said Obama mostly fits that category

I had a similar experience. But he used Keynes and the Nordic model as explanations for why he favors a laissez faire market economy.

Had to spend a loooong time explaining him all that was wrong with that.

A small part of me wonders if Trump isn't planning on rigging the elections. It would be a pretty smart tactical move

    1) Complain that the other party is going to rig the elections in their favor
    2) Other party attacks you for complaining about things being rigged, claims you're trying to undermine democracy
    3) Rig the elections in your favor
    4) Other party can't really cry foul given their reaction in step 2

I haven't read this yet. I'll be interested to see if they hold the United States accountable for what has occurred in the Arab world. It didn't start in 2003. The US and Israel played a significant role in eliminating secular powers that provided an alternative framework to radical Islam.

Also, Hillary Clinton is a war criminal, so...

the earth is not a cold dead place.

    This is hysterical.

I have a couple of acquaintances from college who are involved with his org (Turning Point USA). Mobilizing the next generation of conservatives. Perused his twitter feed a couple of times and the hateful and awful rhetoric that comes from him is disgusting.
