At one point I actually thought Tom had legit issues, now my whole outlook has just changed and just think he's a straight up asshole.

 

Nah just wait until his documentary comes out and he sets the record straight. He's just misunderstood.... (Rolling my eyes).

When I saw Love in theaters it was awesome. But then my family wanted to watch it when it came out on DVD and everyone fell asleep in the first 15 minutes :P

 

He's allowed to not dig the new album, as well as voice his opinion on it. However, the way he is (potentially) doing it is embarrassing. Give reasons why. Not a hashtag.

 

I think there are a few things at play with him right now. One, a band he used to play in made a record w/o him that hit #1 and had a #1 single. That's probably hard for him to deal with, given he didn't want to be completely out of the band. He just wanted to do it his way and on his time. The other part of it I see is that he still doesn't see himself as out, so he wants to use some of that Blink publicity and buzz for his current projects.

 

Yes absolutely. Although he probably should just take the high road either way because he's in a no win situation.

 

I completely agree with you. The problem I have with him is that he seemingly didn't want to be in the band anymore or have anything to do with it until he needed the blink name to help promote his current projects. If he doesn't want to be in blink that's fine I don't think anyone would give him crap about that, people change, grow up and grow out of things. He wants to spend more time with his family and less time on the road I completely respect that. If he wants to write books and make films, cool. Just don't lie to people/fans about it and stop trying to draw attention to yourself by using the band.

 

I am slightly curious to if he listened/what he thought/ if he'd even dare admit if something was good. Hell, during the first break up even Mark admitted he had liked The Adventure

 

Did Mark really say that? I could have sworn during that first break up Mark kinda shit on the AVA debut.

 

I would think it would be almost impossible for anyone in that situation not to want to listen to it. I'm sure there are things he liked and thought he could have made better. I don't think he'd ever say he liked it though in public.

 

Yeah Mark said he liked The Adventure and liked some of the album but after awhile he said it felt repetitive, like haven't I heard this already.

He also said Tom used some of the elements blink might have used for the next album. I really want to know what those were. The guitars in The War sound like they could have been on the untitled album, I also think Tom played that intro riff on one of those Cheetah videos that would live stream on the website or was on the making the album special on MTV.

 

I remember that really long, super serious Q&A with Mark about the breakup that was on the blink 182 site. I remember being depressed reading that. haha.

I think I remember Mark saying he liked The Adventure but thought the rest of the record went on way too long. Like the intros should have been chopped way down. Pretty much everyone else's thoughts as well.

 

Well, I think it comes down to his ego and letting go of something he had a large part in building. We all know he is a strong personality when it comes to creating music and having a vision for that project. Completely letting go is probably super difficult. And letting go now, when it's still clearly financially viable, and dare I say growing again compounds the difficulty.

 

Yeah I get all of that and it has to be a major ego hit to see how well the band is doing without him. He probably figured the band would maybe release an album and it would tank because he wasn't a part of it and he could come back to look like a hero and save the day. I'm sure all the success the band is having now without him is driving him crazy as he's pretty much a forgotten man right now.

It's funny and sad that he posts/talks more about Blink now than he did in past 5 years when they reunited.

nope. Maybe that's just me? I've never found that song all that amazing. When Whitmer Thomas made a bit about it, I just felt so justified in my annoyance hahaha

 

Was the Mark, Tom and Travis show actually live ? Or was it basically just a bunch of over dubs ?
