“And to the left where up is down now stands a zebra
Made of shapes of me, and silver and the sun
So bring no guilt with you up above the flat line
Let's just hit the sky exploding into one”

Really hitting tonight. I’ve just been alternating Inlet and You’d Prefer an Astronaut all week

It’s so good, Folding->Shapeshifter is one hell of a way to close an album

Yeah I’ve always loved Stars and Little Dipper but was a casual fan otherwise and that changed fast this week

Downward is still tops for me and I don't see this knocking it off, the songwriting is more limber and diverse and the songs are pretty much all burned in my brain as classics. This is better than Astronaut though

The end of Cloud City is just.....aces.

  8. Downward *might* be my favorite, but the quality is there for all three of these records and I don't think I could rank them

I have too many memories with Astronaut to not rank it #1. Plus The Pod, and Songs of Farewell and Departure are two of my favorite songs of the genre.

My only experience with Hum prior to this was seeing them open Touché’s Stage Four release. It was loud af and I enjoyed, but never dug into the discography.

I’ve listened twice through and I see this being in my top releases of the year. The tones, the grooves, the atmosphere. Amazing. Lock me in a room with the snare drum

  16. For now, I'd have to say

    DIH > YPAA > Inlet >>> Electra 2000

  24. Newcomer to Hum, this is sick. Did not expect those riffs. Can’t wait to check out the rest of their discography! And buy this soon

Tbh I'm floored by the breadth of attention this is getting. I've loved these guys forever but always thought of them as on par with Failure in terms of their 90s fanbase - just a cult following and "band's band." Failure's comeback didn't seem to get even 1/4 this kind of reception, though.

If this record gets a bunch more people into space rock stuff in general that's about the coolest thing ever.
