    Update: I beat it.

My girlfriend was not happy with me based on how much I was yelling and swearing at the game. But so worth it for the joy when you finally beat each boss :)

The frogs at the beginning managed to get me to throw my joy cons down on the couch, haha. Felt good to finally destroy them like 27272 tries later.

Yeah at the time I thought they were a nightmare too but they are a cake walk compared to later bosses. That’s the fun of the game though is that almost every boss feels impossible for a while when you start it until you magically have a perfect run and beat it. There was probably only 1 or 2 That I beat within 10 attempts.

I'm tempted to try a bunch of those "souls-like" difficulty games like Nioh, Cuphead, etc. I think if I actually try and get into them I may be able to actually beat a part of them

That is awesome. Can’t wait to beat it. I haven’t hit a wall or anything. I’m just bad at focusing on games.

The castle that throws you 3 different enemy types every run is my favorite so far. I love the variety. That entire game is one big chunk of well designed boss fights.

The rollercoaster devil in that same area is a fun one too.

I try to make it a point to keep challenging myself by playing difficult games or play games genres I don’t usually get into every now and then. Last year I played Sekiro. I’m so bad at action games and I was so proud of myself when I actually beat it.

Cuphead is very hard, but it is so rewarding. Highly recommend it.

Yeah for Cuphead once it really started getting new hard I just set a limit of one boss per day which worked well for managing the stress and always kept it fresh.

Really loved the King Dice fight at the end.

I think that game is really charming. It's definitely one of those handheld gems. 3DS had a lot of games that weren't your standard type of game like Pushmo, Sakura Samurai, Pocket Card Jockey, Culdcept Revolt.

So many just cool and quirky games that I feel didn't get a lot of spotlight.

Definitely. Sadly we’re seeing less of those now.

I just turned on my 3DS and went to the eShop and there's so many games like that. It's nuts.

I feel like the Switch has some, but it doesn't advertise itself as the random/playful console the 3DS did with stuff like Street pass and the badge arcade and Miis. I really wish that Nintendo had kept that going.

Hilda Berg boss in Cuphead was a lot of fun (and a massive relief to beat). Seriously, what a game.

i think we talked about that before too.

    fun game.

those games are great, Mallo’s series (Pushmo, Crashmo) were really fun. But have to give a special shout out to Sakura Samurai, I think a lot less people have played it. I just bought Culdcept Revolt earlier this year and played an hour - I like it. But I’ll need to invest time on it. PCJ is a gem.

3DS also had a bunch of great arcade games. The one thing that comes to mind is SpeedX 3D. I got so hooked on that game lmao

    Review: SpeedX 3D (3DS eShop)

i miss 3DS’ weird games for sure

@Joe4th I think I asked before but I forget your response, would it be okay to start with the 3rd LoH??

    No not at all haha

Play Cold Steel from the first game. Trails in the Sky 1/2/3 are also worth playing, and a lot of things get referenced from them in Cold Steel. I highly recommend playing them. It’s daunting, but it’s one of the better JRPGS stories out there with how much is happening/linked. I love the series a lot
