It took me a few episodes to get into Joe Bob and his weird old man rants. It helped to watch with a group (online) who already loved him.

To be fair I don't think he's conservative as much as maybe libertarian. He has spoken in favor of trans rights, has been donating to NAACP in the last month, and quickly announced he would no longer write for Fangoria or Rebeller in the wake of the Cinestate stuff.

I found this video helpful and agreed with a lot of this guy's conclusions

Tremors is one of my favorite all time movies but aside from Aftershocks, the rest of its sequels sucked ass.

  14. I'm apparently not very good with movie franchises, unless they're the MCU...

  15. I think if someone were to like sit me down to watch it with them or something, I'd be more open to watching horror franchises now, but before I was exposed to "prestige horror" I had absolutely no interest in the genre outside of maybe Ju-On and Ringu; watching something for the sole purpose of being scared just wasnt fun for me.

I’ve never heard the term prestige horror before.

Watched the Turning last night and really liked it. Until we got to the end and I'm still trying to process what did and did not happen.

  21. That’s my least favorite thing about a lot of horror movies. The first 3/4 of the movie are great but then they throw in a twist reveal at the end that either is awesome or is awful, and it’s 99% always awful and pretty much ruins the movie for me. Haha.

The practical effects in that series is 10/10

when it comes to horror practical effects (when done right) is so much better than CGI. My favorite is The Thing and that movie still holds up. I was disappointed with the 2011 reboot/prequel since it was the same story formula as the original but they added CGI to it
