It's truly impressive that a conversation going nowhere has lasted almost 24 hours. Can't wait for off-season to be over and the games going.

I don't have money to get tickets to any games this year, but I'm still hoping somehow I end up at the Battle at Bristol.

I can't envision the Vols losing that game, but I am interested in seeing how Fuente does at VT and what that will look like against Tenn.

2018 is not this season and leading a recruit is not signing one. People lead all the time and don't get the recruit. Tennessee has had a top class for the last three or four years. Where's it at? South Carolina has a small window because Kirby Smart and Jim McElwain are better coaches in better states with better teams. While you do have a "crazy" amount of talent coming out in 2018, keep in mind that Rivals has you with two top 100 prospects while Tennessee has four, Georgia has 10, and Florida has 17. So when you say "crazy amount of talent," all you're telling me is you don't know what other states have. Cause yes, you have very good players coming out. So does Georgia and Florida and Louisiana and Alabama and Tennessee AND they have more of it.

The great staff is full of mostly good coaches, I would agree with that. But better than Georgia? Florida? I don't think so. Certainly comparable at the very least. I think that Kirby's sounds better. You have a man who is second only to Nick Saban in putting out NFL talent who has stacked his team with SEC and/or NFL experienced coaches. And then McElwain, who instantly took what Muschamp failed with and made it a 10-win team.

The amazing football operations building? The indoor practice facility? An island home? Are you for real right now? Kentucky spends more on their athletic facilities than you do. Half of the SEC does, actually. I'm not saying it's bad in Columbia, just that Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, Athens, Gainesville, College Station, and Knoxville aren't exactly living modestly either. As for the indoor practice facility, again, really? LSU has that. Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, fuckin' Rutgers and New Mexico have them. The island home is the most absurd thing said in this thread. I don't even know how to address it, I really don't.

Dude, if you want to have a serious discussion then you can't follow up defending Tebow for trying out for the MLB with "well you don't live close to the university so you don't know what you're talking about" followed by mocking people for calling you out on your shit.

Roper had a successful run at Duke and then fizzled out at Florida under Muschamp, that's why I'm not confident in Roper. And I'm not confident in Muschamp either. The man inherited the best school in a top three recruiting state and failed to get traction. What about that makes you confident when he's moving to a less talented team in a smaller market? If you take out the fact that they beat a winless team and Vanderbilt, then you have a one-win team that barely beat North Carolina. They lost to the Citadel, even. I see five wins next season and it's not a great five wins. They didn't have a great offense or defense last year and the offense takes a big hit losing Cooper and Adams. Maybe Muschamp turns it around but can you really not see why there would be doubts? Muschamp couldn't keep the ship going in the right direction in Florida. I think he could do exactly what he did in Florida. Which is exactly what I said he would do. Be a middle of the pack team that doesn't compete for the division but randomly throws a wild card in there. Like when Arkansas decided to beat every good team in the SEC West but lose to all the bad ones.

Outside of the teams I root for, Virginia Tech is the team I'm most interested in seeing develop these next couple years. Fuente is fantastic and I can't wait to see how he does there. Also Temple and Houston. Watching those guys real close.

"You know we lead for "x" recruit" means jackshit.

Washington was named as the clear leader for the best OT out of California on Monday last week and then on Tuesday he took an unofficial to USC and committed lol.

I never said we'd be good this season. I just said I think Muschamp can turn things around. I'm not sure why you guys keep saying this other than you said he wouldn't, and some other dude said winning 6 games is crazy for this season. We don't know that Smart is a better coach. He's never been a head coach so you can't honestly say he's "better." And SC has always flown under the radar in recruiting star power and many kids have been overlooked by the in state program that have gone out of state and made it to the nfl. That said, you're right, other states have more star power, which by what we've seen Mizzou do in the East isn't necessary to have a roster full to win games. Developing talent is obviously key. Landing great players doesn't hurt and SC will get its share out of Georgia and Florida. The coaches also have made their way into Alabama for some guys, and now that it looks like they'll get Nasirildeen and Jamyest Williams along with some underrated guys in this class they will have possibly solved the biggest problem on the roster which is DB.

I never said the staff was better than anyone else, but this is the best staff we've had since Spurrier had Lawing, Johnson, Ward and Beamer.

Also, you have no idea what Muschamp would have done with a completely healthy roster the next season. After all, the man dealt with many injuries, 3 different OC's thanks to an overinvolved AD, but no one can deny that Floridas defense was legit, and the improvement was definitely noticeable at Auburn over the course of the season. Don't act like Muschamp is not an accomplished coach in his own right.

The point with the island home was basically based on how Dabo Swinney takes recruits to his house and has them out on the lake. It's a recruiting advantage to have a place like that and be able to do those types of things. Again, I never said that our facilities outranked the big guys in the SEC, but having those facilities has already earned rave reviews from many athletes and acting like they won't help is silly.

Oh you guys are mad that I didn't think Tim Tebow trying out for baseball was funny? So that's what upset you? Really? That's pretty pathetic.

Roper had one season at Florida. Are you serious? One season and he's a failure?

You're ignoring all the shit that happened injury wise with Muschamp. Let's not forget the man also won the East and went to the Sugar Bowl his second season. His big problem was mainly not being to find a QB which probably was due more to not having a consistent OC and having to start over every 1-2 seasons on offense. Most people learn from their mistakes and at SC he was able to bring in the guy he wanted right off the bat.

Edit: last post on this because others are tired of seeing it. Never meant for this to turn into a thread hijack. I apologize.

Nothing worse in NCAA 14 then leading a recruit by a large margin and then them randomly committing to Alabama.

Any of you east coasters know much of Rutgers Football? They open @Washington this year and there seems to be a lot of mystery behind what they are going to do/how they're going to play with the new coaching staff and all. Curious as to what to expect in Week 1.

Yup, by far my favorite sports game because of dynasty mode. I had spreadsheets and everything for when I recently went back to 14.

Who knows, I think we may get one next year, seems like there was some teasing about it a while back.

I'm intrigued to see what Ash can do but I think anything more than 3 or 4 wins is wishful thinking.

Washington, if they end up being half as good as they're hyped this year, is going to wipe the floor with them.

We know he is a better recruit and a better defensive coach. A head coach, you're right, we don't actually know. It's just a safe assumption. Safer than saying a mediocre coach will become a good one. I mean, Tom Herman was touted as being an excellent coach when he came out of Ohio State. Smart spent seven years in Alabama and has worked with Saban since 2004. Missouri also has one of the best defensive line coaches in college football. Like, if you can say you produced Sheldon Richardson, Aldon Smith, Shane Ray, Markus Golden, Kony Ealy, and Jacquies Smith, that pretty much sells itself.

Why bring up the staff then? I wouldn't say "X school has this staff" unless that statement actually meant something. If SC has a good staff but seven other schools in conference have a great one, what sets SC apart? They do have a better staff than last year without a doubt.

Muschamp is good when it comes to defense. That was evident in Florida. Auburn as well to some extent. I may have even said that (though since we switched sites I don't think I could find the quote) Muschamp was a good hire for Auburn. He's actually a good counterpoint to my Kirby Smart point. Muschamp is a good coordinator. Not so much a good head coach. He is one of those guys who needs someone to run the offense for him and I don't think he has that guy on his staff.

While that is fair, no amount of poorly invested money can change the fact that Swinney plays in a conference with one good team while South Carolina plays in a DIVISION with three. If you want to compete, you go to Clemson. A house on an island that will be underwater in a couple years won't change that. Not saying this can't work, because people do some dumb shit, just saying it's a stretch and I don't think Swinney gets many people based on his house. And again, why say it if it means nothing? They have good facilities but three of their division rivals have better facilities. So you're banking on players not weighing out their options at this point. It won't hurt. Will it help? Some, sure. Is it a selling point though? Nah.

I don't speak for everyone so let's go ahead and remove "you guys." Also, I'm not upset or mad or anything of the sort. I'm pointing out a flaw in how you are addressing people. You can address people like you have been or you can complain about how you're responded to. You can't do both.

No, one season and he's not a savior. He could improve by all means. But if you're looking at his resume, there's no reason to believe he's capable of turning around South Carolina. That's not to say he can't, don't get me wrong. Just that it's a cautionary hire. Like when LSU hired Kevin Steele.

I'm not though. Also, if your injuries are consistent and severe enough that they render your team inept for three years, that's a major problem. I'm not forgetting the Sugar Bowl run. He had a very talented roster, especially defensively, and he's a strong defensive minded coach. Most people learn from their mistakes? I don't even think most people are aware of their mistakes.

Expect a large margin of victory.

It's possible and I am holding out hope that it comes back. 14 is one of my favorite games ever.

Gotcha. I think the hype for UW is still one year too early. They have some questions on offense that I don't think warrants them being up in the Top 10 discussion but they may prove to be legit.

The defense though should be bonkers. I expect them to have an NFL Draft next year similar to 2015 when they have four players go in the first two rounds (Danny Shelton, Shaq Thompson, Marcus Peters, Hau'oli Kekaha).

Guys like Budda Baker, Sidney Jones, Kevin King, Elijah Qualls, and Azeem Victor all have potential to be high picks next year.

They were not very good last year. They brought in a new head coach (Ash) who was Co-DC at Ohio State and is a great defensive mind. Their offensive Coordinator is off the Herman coaching tree. That said, they aren't expected to be good this year.

The QB point is absurd considering Muschamp consistently recruited top quarterbacking talent that he failed to ever develop, going to your development point which is baffling, and all of whom transferred elsewhere with several of them turning into actually decent quarterbacks in a system with a competent staff. Gimme a fucking break lol
