I haven’t seen anything specific regarding specific incidents, but everyone on Facebook has been saying he knew about Barnum being shady and that he has been manipulative with women himself. They all specifically said they weren’t underage when it happened. I also saw some stuff from one of the old members (Ryan who plays in Crypt Rot now) saying he thinks this was part of the reason he was booted bc they knew he wouldn’t have put up with it. That’s def speculation, but seems plausible for sure.

 

I had no clue about it til now but it seems like shady shit about him has been floating around for a bit now

 

Pretty much every story is the same. Basically most women that had an incident felt like they wouldn’t be believed bc Barnum would manipulate the situation so people would put the victims down and feel isolated from the scene. And multiple people have said Izzi was aware of some of the incidents as well. Definitely a big stain on Cleveland hardcore. At least they are getting booted now, even if it’s way too late.

Edit: I should also add that most of the dudes in the Cleveland scene that I’m seeing post it about are pretty shocked and disgusted. A lot of the promoters here had no idea and like I mentioned previously, a former member had no idea either.

 

There were always rumors around cleveland and ashtabula and people definitely knew he was weird and creepy. I had no idea the extent of it though.

 

I never got involved with the Ashtabula scene too much, so I def did not hear about any rumors, but I’m sure they were out there. You don’t mess with this many people in a relatively small area and not have stuff come up about you. It just seems like now it’s finally catching on and being amplified.

 

For sure. I'm sure he was able to use his influence in the scene to keep things quiet as well. The west end was the only place for a lot of those bands and fans to have shows out in ashtabula unless it was at a random house.

 

I was def a ware of the Ashtabula scene being from Cleveland, but I just never went out that way for shows myself. I mostly stuck to Cleveland and then Lorain/Elyria on the west side growing up. And with most venues now closed in Elyria and Lorain, it’s been a long time since I was around that world.

 

I’m a big fan of the first EP so can’t wait for this.

Hasn’t the Barnum dude been doing Code Orange merch for a while now? I wonder if they’ll make a statement.

 

They posted statements in their individual accounts, and proceeds from the next You And You Alone stream are going to RAINN

Homewrecker's statement. I don't really have much to say other than this is bullshit lip service that doesn't do anything to address Izzi's accusations. At least Good Fight dropped them.

 

There is a rape story regarding Izzi in their statement comments. Not sure why the other two guys would attach themselves to that statement from Izzi.

 

Yeah there's multiple stories about izzi on that instagram page as well.

The sheer amount of posts on the Surviving Barnum IG is sickening

 

Yeah, the Matts are truly sick and predatory people. And while it shouldn’t have taken this long, there seems to be a pretty hard cutoff around here. A lot of former band members have posted messages acknowledging they should have done more or questioned things more than they did at the time. The two members Matt Izzi tried to include in the band’s statement both separated from it pretty quickly once they became aware of it. I think they are pretty much done here. It’s just a question if anything legal happens, which is a completely separate discussion. But it is truly wild how many people have incidents. Consistently for two and a half days of new stories. Unreal.

 

Also apparently the singer of ecostrike was called out but that person has since deleted their account
