I’ve always had my lp-120 hooked up to my parents’ old onkyo receiver/pre-amp & amp. Works great, but very obtrusive. You guys have any suggestions for a smaller, cleaner setup? Relatively low budget ideally.

My little cheap amp died and instead of getting a new amp/receiver i went with these powered speakers and i love them

So these would just use the pre-amp from the turntable? I hadn’t considered powered speakers since I just bought new passive ones a couple years ago but the price is attractive. I’m not an audiophile but I do really like my current setup, but sounds like you’re satisfied with the sound quality?

I am, but I’m certainly no audiophile myself. I also wanted new speakers so it worked out perfectly for me

I am looking to buy a decent record player, but I am totally lost. I have a bluetooth speaker, but have read that bluetooth and vinyl players aren't the best match. I was looking at a lot of the U-Turn models, but not sure what I need/don't need. Also, any decent speaker recommendations that aren't super expensive? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd be happy to try to help here, but could you be a little more specific in terms of what your budget for the whole set up would be? Unfortunately, especially when it comes to audio, people's opinions of not expensive may vary greatly :)

Haha thank you! I don't think I would want to spend over 500 total. 300-400 range I'd say

You could try a combination of these speakers http://amzn.com/B016PATXSI/?tag=inchroorde-20 and this turntable http://amzn.com/B07N3W8B5M/?tag=inchroorde-20

These Audio Technicas are pretty solidly built and offer an exceptional value as a starter turntable. It has a built-in pre-amp, so you don't have to worry about buying a separate amp / receiver / speakers with a specific phono port on them. It also has an adjustable counter-weight to set the tracking force. That will be very helpful if you decide you want to upgrade to a better cartridge in the future. You also get a cueing lever; which isn't included on the lower cost U-Turn models. All in all, besides finding a deal on a used one on at a local shop or on the Internet, this is the best you could do in that price range.

The speakers are a couple models up from the ones mentioned earlier in this thread. They have additional inputs, so you could also hook up a 2nd audio source like a computer, CD player (if anyone owns this anymore!) or whatever else you've got. One of the reviewers of these compared them more favorably to the smaller Klipsch speakers. I haven't heard these Edifiers myself, but if the opinion is that they are better than the Klipsch, I would trust they sound good for the price point!

    Hope this helps!

....just whatever you decide to do, PLEASE don't buy a Crosley! If you want to go that route, you can just ship me all your records and I'll enjoy them for you

yea I hear ya. i've been toying with the idea of ditching the Onkyo speakers for a series of bluetooth speakers (Sonos) that i could link up and spread the sound from my stereo around the house. Anyone have that kind of set up? I'm interested in opinions.
