Just had my first full listen while stoned on a walk. Wow. This is going to join the newest The 1975 as one of my night time records. The last verse on “I Know The End” floored me.

This would be a great fall album. I’ll test it out as a summer bonfire album this weekend.

  4. Love the whole album on first listen but some of the slower, more drawn-out songs are gonna take a few listens for me to really dig into I think.

Holy shit "I Know the End" is like hopping the fucking space shuttle though. What a way to end the record

  5. I still can’t get over how this entire time I thought DVD Menu was going to be this whole ass album opener and it turns out Garden Song was the stealth opener all along, haha. Normally hate when artists release the opening tracks before the full record, but DVD Menu’s segue into it really makes it feel super fresh.

Someone else mentioned Clairo, but so far this also emotionally crushes me in a way Lucy Rose's latest album did around this time last year.

edit: Holy shit at I Know The End once that key change comes in

So.... I have never actually listened to Phoebe BUT it was on my 4th listen through that I realised that I had not stopped listening. I Know The End's ending took me by surprising but this album totally hit and now I cannot stop.

when boygenius first announced that they were making music together, I was a big fan of Lucy’s debut, but Phoebe and Julien’s stuff hadn’t fully clicked with me yet.
I now consider all three of them absolute favourites, I find each of them scratches a different musical itch.

There's definitely a lot of similarities in the sound of the drums on this record to how they did things for BOCC. Not complaining one bit!

I adore Julien, but she is one of the most “have to been in the right mood to listen to” artists for me.

Graceland Too being about her and featuring her has me in a puddle.

    What a crew.

I get such a lump in my throat every time I get to the halfway point of I Know The End where the melody changes. the ending of that song feels like when you finally have a good cry after holding shit in for weeks.

The last verse of “I Know the End” is so good that, even though it’s been referenced & quoted a bunch already, I think the whole verse deserves to be posted:

    “Driving out into the sun
Let the ultraviolet cover me up
Went looking for a creation myth
Ended up with a pair of cracked lips
    Windows down, scream along
To some America First rap country song
    A slaughterhouse, an outlet mall
    Slot machines, fear of God
    Windows down, heater on
Big bolts of lightning hanging low
    Over the coast, everyone's convinced
It's a government drone or an alien spaceship
    Either way, we're not alone
I'll find a new place to be from
A haunted house with a picket fence
To float around and ghost my friends
No, I'm not afraid to disappear
The billboard said ‘The End Is Near’
I turned around, there was nothing there
Yeah, I guess the end is here.”

Exactly the same for me. When the third verse kicks in it's such a release and amazing moment that just builds from there. Amazing ending.

oh yeah it did. Hmmm. I've read just yesterday they abandoned the "ICU" title to avoid some connotations with healthcare for now.

Anyway, I'm on my 5th listen right now, it's perfect! With each new song I had a feeling like "oh this one is even better" and it was like that up until the last track.

Actually could’ve justified posting the whole song, lol. Like, “always pushing you away from me, but you come back with gravity” is so good, especially when paired w/ the “ghost my friends” line in the last verse.

Echoing all the praise, damn she’s just so good. The lyrics are insane. The arrangements are awesome too.

I've always enjoyed "Stranger In The Alps" but this is just hitting on a different level.

missed out on the blue vinyl had to jump on the red via rough trade.
