The Adam Levine scenes in Asylum are ridiculous, but one could argue that they actually don't factor into the story at all.

Also I don't know how anyone made it through Hotel. Like five of the white male characters look identical and so many dropped subplots that were only added for shock-value. Drill rapist monster dude? Anyone remember that?

Also yes, glad someone mentioned Hill House. That show is absolute fire.

  3. I didn't mind Hotel when it aired, watched the first half or so, but when I eventually jumped back in, the dialogue and writing were some of the worst I'd ever seen. Legitimately couldn't finish it.

  4. I loved the feel of Asylum and Hotel. I guess I enjoy the show more for its acting and atmosphere than for its plot haha

I still need to watch Hill House! It's sitting on my shelf!!!

I think I've tried to watch every season of AHS and the only one I've ever made it through was Roanoke, halfway through I was hate watching it though. Just not for me, even though I really wish it was.

I've been on found footage kick recently, really enjoyed As Above, So Below and Savageland, although that was more of a faux documentary. About to start Lake Mungo.

As Above So Below and Savageland are great. I really liked the concept for Savageland.

But I love found footage so ymmv

  8. Just watched Mulholland Drive for the first time... I didn't know what to expect, but it definitely wasn’t that. Haha. What a trip!

I rented it in high school and just didn’t get it. Then years later after seeing more his films and Twin Peaks, I re-watched it and got to appreciate it more.

Need to watch that one again. Loved it but also found it to be his most confounding. My personal fav project by him is the new season of Twin Peaks, but Blue Velvet and Eraserhead are up there too. Lost Highway is great as is Elephant Man... yet to see Inland Empire, Wild at Heart, and his others.

  12. Definitely hated Mulholland Drive in high school, but I'm more open to surreal stuff these days. I love Eraserhead, and just finished my first original Twin Peaks watch-through, which went from great to kinda eye-rolly towards the end. Very torn between loving some of the choices he makes and being frustrated with others lol.

I don’t know how true it is but supposedly Lynch was considered to direct Return of the Jedi and when he was passed over, he chose to make his own Sci-fi epic adaptation of Dune

He stopped being involved for a lot of season 2 and only came back for the finale which I think is one of the best parts of the whole show. Have you seen Fire Walk With Me?

  16. I have! I'll be completely honest, I didn't love either while I was watching them at the time, but the further I'm removed from them, the more they stick with me. So that counts for something. Planning on starting The Return sometime soon.

Fire Walk With Me is probably my favourite part of Twin Peaks and one of my all time favourite movies. It really shows the darkness that started the whole thing in such a unique way. it's a show that's only grown on me with time as I've thought more about it and read other peoples thoughts and interpretations.

Has anyone seen The Vast of Night yet?

Probably more sci-fi than horror but it is getting great reviews

  19. The Vast of Night is great. It's definitely more of a sci-fi, but there is a good amount of suspense throughout.

Last night I drunkenly emailed this record shop I go to sometimes because they posted a bunch of Instagram videos of records for sale. Due to Covid, they closed their shop to the public but have since doing mailorder on Discogs. But this weekend they previewed a ton of stuff up for grabs before they list them online if you can pick it up curbside today or tomorrow. I requested they put these on hold for me unaware of the prices. Sure enough I got an email this morning saying they will hold them for me. I go back to the IG and realized how much the price tags were for them . I’ll just say the amount I paid for the first movie’s soundtrack is the most I ever paid for a single record (though not an outrageous amount). Anyways, I said “fuck it” and purchased these bad boys. If anything I just wanted to support their business.

  23. Scare Package was about as hit or miss as most anthology films, but ultimately a ton of fun! Plus, Gabrus and Allan McLeod!

  24. With The Last Drive-In finale imminent, I've been giving some thought to hosting my own "show" featuring B-movies, cult films, and old horror flicks. Due to copyright issues, the best medium I've come up with so far is a Zoom meeting so that folks could all share a screen and chat about the movie in real time. If anyone out there has experience streaming video, are there better options I'm not considering?

Scare Package was really fun for the most part but definitely would've been improved by cutting a couple segments (the sucker one and the remote control one). Also was pretty excited to see Jon Gabrus unexpectedly

Hogzilla was awful but I had fun making fun of it over Slack

Boar is a pretty fun movie if you want an actual killer hog creature feature
