I know some of this might be a little to much legalese, but this order from a federal judge is absolutely amazing and some federal prosecutors are probably shitting a brick right now.

The gist is that federal prosecutors secured a conviction in a case, but are now asking to dismiss the charges after it was revealed that they failed to turn over exculpatory evidence (evidence of the defendant’s innocence) and then mislead the court about why they failed to turn it over.

So the judge is demanding that the US Attorney’s name all the attorneys who were responsible, the names of their supervisors, all in anticipation of possible sanctions.

In other words, this judge is piiiiiiissed.

 

I do think about that a lot. I have not posted about protesting, or BLM on Instagram or Facebook, because - frankly - I am a white man and my post would look a lot like others. But I have also been making the concerted effort to educate myself - reading more about systemic racism, watching documentaries. I went to 2 protests and plan to get back out on Saturday. I have confronted people about posts. I know your posts were about big brands, so this doesn't really apply - but I thought I would muse for a second. I definitely don't care what a brand like Pepsi does or does not say. I do, however, care about systems that can do really change - the NFL is a big example. I participate knowingly with my dollar and my time every Sunday where a league with 70% black players has not supported their right to protest. I am glad they have been trying to make good on that now.

It’s never been explicitly linked to it but yes it is. They started this pilot system to test this swab system year, after weed was legalized. The thing is THC has the highest false positive with these I believe. I saw someone tested a pice of bird poop with one of these and got a positive for a substance...can’t remember which one.

Yeah this seems like another way to keep arresting people for using marijuana after it’s legalized, and a way to justify “smelling” marijuana and arresting and harassing minorities.

So this was very quickly pulled but here is an article about it...not seeing the 30% like I mentioned but you can see the difference in swab/blood testing. The other issue with THC is how long it lasts in your system so I wondering on the numbers in this article plus its mentioned in here. They can tell if you only smoked in the last 12 hours, and not to mention these tests cost fucking 6k a pop.
