Walking on a gravel road at night is such a comforting sound to me. I associate it with summer camp and it makes me feel nice. Don’t know about adding a bike though.

That just reminds me of that Stephen Fry interview when he got asked what he’d say if he died and found out that despite his atheist beliefs, there was in fact a god and he had to talk to them. Something like “How dare you? Bone cancer in children? How dare you? There are bugs whose sole purpose in life is to eat out the backs of people’s eyes and make them blind. Why? What loving god would create that? And what god would expect you to then get on your knees and constantly worship and praise them? At least with roman gods they didn’t pretend to be perfect.”

Sat through that with my religious nan once and my soul left the room out of awkwardness

 

I remember as a kid walking onto a beach in Florida with my brother and he grabbed a dead jellyfish and was like HAHAH MUM LOOK AT THIS and watching the horror in her eyes. I guess our first mistake was stepping foot in Florida though

I’ve never been religious but my best friend’s dad suddenly dying, then his cat the next week, then his grandad the next...to have that summarised into ‘god’s plan’ by a kid at school made me see the deepest shade of red

 

i hear a lot of "god only gives you what he knows you can handle" type of things and it's like ok explain how that applies to what you listed ^ and further above

i work in a church on Sundays. it's a lot of smile and bite my tongue. thankfully I'm not expected to teach things to the 0-3 yr olds

Also I just heard someone gasp from the toilets and I’m beyond curious what could’ve happened

 

last story i remember hearing before pausing for covid was: some sucker wanted to marry some girl, so her father got him to do a bunch of work or pay a bunch of money or both? but then the dad pulled a switch-a-roo and tricked the sucker into marrying the older uglier daughter.
oh and they tried acting this out too, but there were only 3 kids that day and they were siblings
