wow! 9 pages of reviews i missed??!!! (I'm currently going into 5. need a rest though lol)

Still have yet to get the album/hear the whole thing. I liked Blow Me and loved Cathedral Bell, but didn't get into Gravity's Rainbow (i think that was the one). Then I stopped after that so i could listen to it as a whole...wanted to buy first and listen. Is it worth it?? (so far, it seems like a yes. :) )

  2. I'm still listening to this album daily, so I would say yes. After a few listens I think every song is really good, no track I would skip.

Ok, so I haven't been missing notifications. I guess that's good. I can catch up anyway. Hehe

But I did start my listening to the album today. Got up to Cathedral Bell and then had to go cook. I do like it. I mean, I still prefer the hits, except "Wow I hate this song" was great! So like track 1, 2,...4 was ok, 5, 6 and Cathedral Bell. It was weird to hear Paradise Lost without Cocoon before it, but I'm so pleased it wasn't this way on the record. Was a "banger" (lol as y'all say) of an opening, just as all of my favorite The Used albums have been (ILAD, LFTL...). Yea, I really have always loved Cathedral Bell, but I'm thinking Paradise Lost is my favorite so far (currently in head ;) ).

Ok, well, stay tuned for more commentary as I finish listening in the next couple of days, if not tonight. :D

Alright. Caught up now. :D Wow! Loved it! I especially loved from Lighthouse to the darkest something (2nd to last track, forget the name). But yeah, all those guest appearance tracks, and that dark one are so freaking good and awesome! I like the way Hoppus sings the lyrics. Same with Chino (right?). One is soothing and seductive and the other is angry and raw. Both strong sensations! And of course Bert in there is just the perfect complement In both cases! Instrumentally, I could really get a Blink vibe on Obvious Blasse. Must be the drums. And I believe that is the one with the cool bass. (Now I'm forgetting). Lottery is just all over the place in awesome madness. Also has a bit of a Mexican flair, no? (Doubled checked, but yea, very likely Chinos influence). I thought the chorus was a bit weird at first, but in the absolute inventive style of The Used, it's just so cleverly added in.

Wanted to say a tad more on Lighthouse. While more pop rock, it hit the spot for me. This is in contrast to um hmm well, one of the ones before it, that was catchy but had me feeling that guilty pleasure in liking it, like "oh no. Here's another one of "those" type of songs", but again, it was catchy.

For the life of me, I can't really recall the second to last track and what I liked about it. I think it just boils down to the essence of the best of The Used.

I played those 4 end of album tracks sequence at least 4 times through, I enjoyed them that much! But what do you know, Paradise Lost is back stuck in my head right now. Tee hee!

Final thoughts. I mentioned Gravitys Rainbow in my second to last post in this thread (this might be that pop rock song. I forget). I didn't like it when I first heard it, but felt differently this time. It isn't really a favorite, but wasn't bad. And I was saying Paradise Lost was my favorite before? Well, it's still one of them, but that other single, Cathedral Bell I have to say is equally good. They are just 2 different styles, so it's easy to forget one or the other if you are in a mood. The latter is more chill, whereas PL is more of The Used that I have come to sort of expect.

Anyway, I so very much want this album now!!! I hope Amazon gets it back in stock soon!!

Edit: Oh yes, and in the ranking of albums, this is likely going to be my second favorite I like it THAT much!

Seriously no more regular updates here?! I realize i SHOULD wait for folks to catch up with my novel length post (lol), but i forgot to mention how wow, i love this song called "wow i hate this song". Ha! Or at the least, like it.

Just getting all sorts of these songs stuck in my head lately. "I'm shaken!" Oh, that's the current one, but Blow Me and obvious blase and especially lighthouse have all been there too. Love this album! ;)

Very gutsy of them to call a song, “Wow, I Hate This Song”. Could have gone very badly but luckily it’s a good song.

I find myself turning this on quite a bit lately when I want some energy while working on work projects.

skip the title track of course.

“The Lighthouse” is fine but basically every other song is much better imo

love the opening track still and “Gravity’s Rainbow” is probably my favorite overall

    Lol me again!

Just thinking how Lighthouse reminds me of Katy Perry's Firework song. I'm not the biggest pop fan, but I can take some KP. And that's why, while Lighthouse is more pop, it's the kind of pop I like! :)

they should definitely have pushed Lighthouse more with a proper music video and some label promo, honestly that song could be a radio hit

Listened to this again today and I think it's their best since LFTL. Crazy.

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

It's their best since ILAD for me. LFTL is still a mess of an album that doesn't do much for me outside a few songs. Love Artwork but like this better.

been trying to buy it on Amazon, but it keeps going "temporarily out of stock". I checked this morning and the sign was gone, but by the time I logged in, it was back up. Then tonight-same thing, only this time it didn't say out of stock when I put it in my cart, but before I could finish my order, it did. I'm not sure if it went that fast or if it was a glitch or something. Either way, I'm really frustrated and feeling like just giving up right now! :/ But I mean, YouTube works just fine, I guess...

Listening to this today and there are some really bad and boring songs on here. Some of it's fine, but stuff like Wow, I Hate This Song just comes across as Old Man Yells At Cloud. Big, Wanna Be through to Cathedral Bell is so uninteresting to me. Second half is better, but this isn't something I can see myself re-listening much.

lol nobody noticed my glaring error??! I thought it was Chino, but it's apparently it's the guy from Beartooth. I haven't heard too much from that band, so not surprising I missed this...but I actually did like the song or songs I caught from them...and I really like Caleb's contribution to this album.

listening again. ^^ Did I mention that I finally snagged the CD?? Well, it hasn't shipped yet. Fingers crossed nothing prevents me from getting it this time. :D

edit: can I just repeat Lighthouse for like an hour?? lol because I'm repeating it a lot.

Just want to say I appreciate your posts and enthusiasm on this site. It’s lighthearted praise of music that we could all use more of.

  20. Would be excited to see what the booklet looks like when you get the CD!
I’m still listening to this album a lot as well. I think my favorite still might be Cathedral Bell. But I love this album front to back.

have they explained why they named the album "heartwork" yet? or why they would choose that name when they already have an album called "artwork"? definitely would have preferred it being called "paradise lost" hahah.

I got it today!!! but have not yet opened it. Do you mean you want to see pictures or what??? Have you not gotten a copy? I'm wondering just how much use the CD will actually get, but I just HAD to have it in case, heaven forbid, something should happen to YouTube. lol and well, maybe I'll actually get to play it on the loud speakers one day...I mean, I'll have to at least check it for sound quality! ;) (the issue is that our main stereo system is upstairs where it's very hot in summer and very cold in winter. :/ ) But yay!!! I got it! :D

So there's a blue and yellow reference and an "imaginary enemy" reference. What else?

I'm still digging this album quite a bit. Duds for me are the title track and Infinite Jest, but I can jam pretty much every other track. Fantastic release and exactly what I needed from these guys!

I was listening to BIG, WANNA BE while doing the dishes and as it goes into the bridge I started to imagine the song being Trump speaking in first person. Like he's singing about himself. There's lots of simplistic, Trump-esque sayings, the bridge talks about building a wall, I think it really fits even if that's not 100% of the intended meaning (based on interviews) so I choose to use it to make the song a lot more enjoyable.

Pretty much right after “imaginary enemy” he says something about “black parade” right? At first I thought it was a call out to Circa Survive and definitely MCR, but I think that’s the song 1984 and I believe “imaginary enemy” is context from the book, but it’s been about a decade since I read it so I may be wrong or thinking of the wrong song.
