I know you and I have disagreed about the Matt Healy response on Twitter and I want to sincerely apologize if how I said it came across as a masculine POV dominating a feminine POV. I definitely could have worded it better.

 

This is pretty standard arguing in here imo

 

I don’t need to defend the tone of every post I’ve made here in order for my points to have been valid.
Ask yourself why you only want to listen to women when they are giving you their message in a “non aggressive” way.

I speak directly and unapologetically with the utmost certainty that If I were a man speaking this way no one would bat an eye.

it's, uh, not so good (arguably bad!) when a woman comes in and says "hey it feels like there's some misogynistic undertones to these posts" and then a bunch of people respond by insulting her and calling her names

I’ll go ahead and say I thought the mean-ness some people did at Jesse West was a little over the top too tbh lol. Like I thought what he was saying was a little out there but a leftist advocating other leftists arm up isn’t the worst thing in the world. Yeah I tried to say something like this in the moment but it was already out of hand and he was just digging that hole deeper and deeper. Yeah it happens all the time. Not just in this thread or on this site, but everywhere online. Men are aggressive and dismissive and mean constantly without getting much pushback, and sometimes they’re even applauded for it. Women are very rarely awarded that same courtesy when talking, even if it’s on a subject where they absolutely have more knowledge and personal experience. Having to wade through misogyny just to discuss important current events takes a toll, especially when it’s coming from people who you do trust on other subjects for their knowledge.

I addressed your points each time you responded to me. But then you kept being insulting (which you're not even denying at this point), so I addressed your points in that post and then called you out on it. Is that not what we should be doing? I would want someone to call me out on that shit, esp when I don't realize I'm doing it. Like I'm sorry for insulting you, but I also don't at all agree that I was in the wrong for feeling insulted, and then being very explicit that I wouldn't want to continue the conversation when you keep throwing those digs towards me every time I responded. You then responded as like, how dare I have the nerve to make such a claim, so at that point yeah, continuing the conversation felt like a lost cause.

I'm not even trying to continue arguing about this at this point. I'm just trying to be genuine about what I was thinking/feeling at the time. If I'm phrasing something incorrectly here then I'm sorry, but I promise that coming off as inflammatory or using coded language is not my intention here.

You giving your examples actually made it clear to me that most of what you were “insulted” by was me making challenging statements that made you feel uncomfortable (ie when I asked you to think about why you had certain reactions or consider why certain things are culturally the way they are)

honestly at this point it’s been said multiple times in multiple ways by multiple people (yes this is me sounding aggressive again because it’s tiring and annoying to repeat yourself over and over- another example you gave before) BUT-
There is an extensive history with tone policing women and not being willing to hear their message unless it’s wrapped in a nice enough presentation. This is well documented. what might seem innocent to you in “calling out someone’s shit” is steeped in misogynistic history and I genuinely want you to sit with that and chew on it before trying to call a woman an asshole for getting passionate about oppression

It is ridiculous to me that you still seem to think that that is what you were doing. They were not "challenging statements" in the slightest lol. Asking people to think about why they have certain reactions to things or why certain things are culturally the way they are is like Baby's First Leftism. You can continue to delude yourself into thinking that I felt insulted by them because I felt like it was an attack on my male privilege. I can't stop you from thinking that. All I can do is say that you're wrong for thinking that that's why, and ask that you consider that some other reason may conceivably be possible.
