Not a great moment for the thread when someone clearly explains the intricacies of the issue currently being discussed from their particular perspective as a black individual and that contribution is basically ignored in favor of a bunch of posts about how a woman is expressing herself online.

 

I pretty much exclusively post in the general forum and this thread (and argument) were being talked about there so I came in to have a look

 

But Live PD which is basically the same thing on A&E is not being cancelled

I somehow had no idea Cops was still on the air and hadn’t been just airing repeats for decades.

There’s so much misogyny here and any attempt to call it out is ALWAYS met with me being labeled aggressive

I thought you were being unnecessarily aggressive from the jump, hence why I said something about it. You want people to challenge their own preconceived notions but seem completely unwilling to entertain the thought that maybe you weren't actually challenging anyone's preconceived notions on anything, you were just being mean for no reason lol. Like how is a statement like "like just say y’all think white people deserve black peoples time and effort to explain a problem we created" simply a coded femme way of speaking, exactly?

Yeah you’re right I’m not entertaining that thought because I had several thoughtful posts, that others liked and supported, that were aimed to challenge. It’s not my fault you weren’t engaging with them. They were there.

I don’t really understand your insistence on repeatedly bringing up one condescending sentence and not the paragraphs and posts that I posted previous to that.

YOUR words that you are using to describe me and how I’ve spoken is using coded language. I say pretty certainly that you wouldn’t tell Jason he was using tumblr nonsense. Implying that it sounds like a teenager? Like. These are tired tactics deployed by misogynists all the time. Equating me with a teenage girl to downplay and dismiss my statements.

We’ve definitely been doing something wrong in this thread imo. It certainly seems like almost every woman that has posted regularly ends up leaving. It’s hard to imagine that isn’t because of misogyny and I’m sure I’m guilty too even if it’s unintentional. supernovagirl has some really great political insights and I enjoy her posts so it would be a loss if she stopped posting here. I still really miss lightning in here but she puts out really good content elsewhere.

 

If men are being aggressive, then I agree, call that out. I'm sure I do it or tolerate it plenty without realizing it.
