OCD is its own circuit, Plimsoul too I think. but I’ve never personally wanted to own them. I was always more interested in Bluesbreaker, Timmy, and Blues Driver circuits.

yeah ocd has always been super overrated, as has been the fulldrive. the plimsoul rules, as does the deja vibe, but fuck them lol

I’ve had a Plimsoul on my board for forever. Wouldn’t mind replacing it now.

Haven't checked this thread in a minute and I just noticed the title change. Is bass talk allowed? I've been writing more stuff with the right-handed Cort that belongs to my brother than with guitars lately, and I'm debating taking the plunge on a 5 string one or on a new guitar first. Left-handed instruments get costly quick.

And because I saw the talk about open tuning while catching up, and just for fun, here are some of the guitar tunings I've been using since I started experimenting with them six years ago (thanks to City Of Ships, Brendan Rivera, or The Intersphere, Transit and emo guitar tunings in general were also formative for a while):

B F# C# F# G# C# (sometimes with the highest strings being A# D#, I think Cave In uses a similar one on their newest album)

    A# D# A# D# G# C# (sometimes with the lowest being G#)

Due to tuning the lowest one very low, I often feel like I'm missing a string to make certain chords so I've also been debating getting a 7 string guitar. I'm a bit afraid of how much I'd have to adjust my guitar playing though.

No wtf? Kidding haha. Have at it! Miss having a bass myself and it’s nice to have a variety of players here!

If you ask me, I’d opt for a 5-string bass over a 7 string guitar. I don’t know why the guitar is more daunting given it’s only one extra string with each, but that just seems like far, far more effort than the bass would be

  6. Most days I wish I’d picked up bass back when I picked up guitar instead. Not to say I don’t love playing guitar, but I bought a bass like 4 years ago and the thing just feels like home. Was a drummer for years before either so I shoulda known better, but guitar had so much more allure as a teen

Tbf, the only reason I sold my bass was because of my obsession with guitar pedals. Yes, you can use them on bass, but the excessive stuff I use would just render any sense of rhythm a complete droning atonal mess. Better to leave it to people who can actually play decent and aren’t children with pedals haha.

  8. That's what I'll do then. I'd love to develop slapping skills, which proved to be impossible when playing the bass backwards lol

  9. Hahaha. Yeah for the sake of practicality it makes sense you’d choose one or the other. I keep telling myself I’ll pick up a nice bass drive one of these days, but for now I mostly just use plugins for that. Depending on what I’m playing I’ll throw my chorus pedal in there or something, but yeah can’t get too carried away otherwise

I've been interested in a OCD, but there are so many clones for literally 1/3 the price that when matched up sound almost identical...soooooooo

  12. You're welcome! It's not a band that I've ended up listening to consistently over the the last decade but that song and its parent album were so influential to my guitar playing. Took me years to notice it, weirdly. The lead singer/guitarist now plays in Rosetta too.

Lemme know how it is. I’ve always been interested but I kinda hate pitch-shifting stuff. It’s the more wacky feedback kinda stuff I’d vibe with but idk if I’d wanna sacrifice the pedalboard real estate

fucking COVID turned me into a gear head. Not mad about it but def didn’t see it coming. I don’t think I knew what a waveform was 18 months ago yet now I have two tremolo pedals

  18. Has anyone in here fooled around with the Joyo amp sim pedals? I have 3 of the 4, and I like them quite a bit for my home recordings.

So a few weeks ago my guitar fell on the cement and a big chunk of the body/finish came off. Probably a chunk about the size of a ping pong ball. Don’t have a pic right now. The wood is exposed but doesn’t appear cracked. It’s a made in Mexico tele. Is it possible/worth it to repair or should I just use this as an excuse to get a new guitar?

swapping the body is another option too

I’d use it as an excuse but if you’re particularly attached then you could use this guitar as a project and maybe experiment with trying to repair it/relic it. A whole body swap would be easier but tbh if you’re spending that money and going to that effort then a little more will get you another Mexican Fender.

This is kinda my thinking as well. Might as well get a new one because I’m not handy at all and the money spent would probably get me something new.
So I took matters into my own hands and filled the gaps with some leftover sugru I had. Fit perfectly. .

So instead of getting a new guitar I just bought a cheap squier bass and a korg monologue. Only thing that sucks is I had to buy it online because none of the music stores in town have anything in stock. Like guitar center has like literally 10 guitars, 7 basses, and like 8 amps.
