On our roadtrip, my wife got pulled over for speeding in Washington. I forget who the cop was (white male i think but can't rmemeber), and she got hammered with a high ass ticket.
Same road trip, 6 weeks later in Maryland, I got pulled over at like midnight for speeding. White female cop. I pretended like I didn't see the sign that signaled the change in speed limit. She let me off with a warning lol. My wife was relieved but pissed that I got a warning and she didn't lol

My worst personal interaction with a cop was when I an old beat up Camry that was missing a headlight. I had gotten pulled over like months before for it, thought the cop said all I had to do was pay the ticket, but apparently I had a court date that I missed. So flash forward like half a year, I get pulled over again. Female cop. My car is so beat up my driver side window doesn't open (I think at this point the driver side door also didn't open lol), so I yell to her she has to go to the passenger side. She's all pissed off, asks if I know why I was pulled over. I said "I assume my headlight". And she was like "and what else?" and I said uhh I have no diea. And that made her really mad and she said "you really want to say you don't know?" and I said "yeah I mean I dont think I was speeding or anything."

Turns out missing the court date meant my license got suspended. I had no clue but considering the shape of my car and the fact that I was dressed sloppily that night that I was definitely a criminal of some sort. Insisted she had to take me in. Handcuffed me, took me down to the court house to get processed. Was a huge asshole the whole time through the stop but then at some point in the courthouse when she was doing the paper work her attitude changed. I'm guessing she realized between my college ID and my complete lack of prior record and the fact that I was a polite white boy who had no idea what the fuck was going on, that I wasn't a criminal driving on a suspended license and etc.

TBH I don't remember much about that night anymore. I think I was so in shock that I was actually arrested that I kind of blanked it out lol. Public defender had me plea PBJ and I got some points on my license that would go away after a few years. Not really sure how that would have all turned out had I been black.

I wonder if many MPD cops have preemptively quit over the past few days since they figure their job is gonna be gone sooner or later anyway. But I guess it’s a pandemic and all so it’s not like they have other much other job prospects anyway

Another fun itneraction i had with cops was when I was walking around UD's campus looking for a party one night. I had a white hoodie on and was walking with it up going down the street. All of a sudden a cop car with its lights on rolls up on me and a cop jumps out of the car and told me to freeze. Then they asked to look at my hands. They asked me where I had been and I told them I just got there like 10 minutes ago and parked my car and was walking to find a party. They said okay and let me go.

Apparently there was a fight somewhere near by and they thought I had assaulted someone so they asked to see my hands to see if my knuckles looked bloodied/bruised.

Would fucking love nothing more than Mitch McConnell getting beat. Omg that turd attaching himself to Trump being his downfall would be amazing.

I got pulled over once while I was driving. had just left work late one night and was driving my sister's jeep because my car was in the shop. Cop pulled me over seconds after I left the parking lot. He walked up, asked me to check my lights. turned out i only turned them half on because i wasn't used to the car. I proved they worked and he walked away without a word.

speed trap towns are the worst. there's one on the way from madison to green bay that absolutely kills any momentum bc it's so infamous for their overzealous speed policing. you gotta drop all the way down to like 25 in order to play it safe

    Another fun one...

Cops “busted” a 15-20 person gathering at a friends house when we were 19-20, One of them looked like they were in civilian clothing.... well I went upstairs and just hid with some other friends. The cops asked if anyone was upstairs and said “if someone catches us by surprise we will shoot” so they all screamed for us to come downstairs... When I walked downstairs this cop handcuffed me and said I slammed the door in his face(never opened the door or knew they were there until they entered the back yard illegally” they then asked who’s weed was outside and they were obviously lying because no one had weed at this party.

I've been pulled over four times I think and I'm incredibly lucky that my worst interaction with a cop has been getting an $80 speeding ticket for going 44 in a 35 (which I still think is bullshit lol). All the other times have just been warnings

Although one time on the way out of a parking garage I apparently rolled through a stop sign that I legitimately had no idea was there and the cop that pulled me over accused me of drinking like three times even though I hadn't had anything at all

I got into a car accident during a blizzard/ice storm in college after my car spun out on the ice. I was on the freeway driving to work and it caused a couple other cars to hit me which wound up totaling my car. Somehow I got out without a scratch on me. I was standing there on the icy freeway with cars slowly passing while a cop directed traffic past me. I was shaking and crying because it was an absolutely terrifying experience I’d never been through before, and the cop just looks at me and goes “Move your car over.” I look at the completely totaled car and tell him, “...I can’t. It...can’t move.” He sees me shaking and crying and says, “What’s wrong with you?” I’m standing there stunned because, like, duh what the fuck do you think is wrong with me, and then I muster up “I’ve...never been in an accident before.” Then he waves me off and says “Just try to move the car.”

The wheels were flattened and falling off and my front end was almost completely gone. I just stood there staring at the car like “What the fuck are you talking about” while he drove away to go talk to the other people who had hit my car. Then he wrote me a speeding ticket. Again, it was a blizzard/ice storm on the freeway where literally everyone was driving like 20 under the limit, including me, and he wasn’t even there until after the accident happened. I eventually went to court to at least fight the points. The cop showed up and asked me what I wanted to happen here and I could tell he wasn’t going to budge much. So I just begged him not to give me points and he complied. I had to pay the ticket though.

Another time I was at my girlfriend’s house late at night watching the Superbowl. A few days before, my neighbor across the street had backed into my car while it was parked on the street and they knocked my side mirror off so it was just hanging there. I had immediately called a repair shop, drove there, and scheduled an appointment after they told me they had to order the part and it would take a few days. So I paid and got a receipt but forgot to leave it in my car. So anyway, the superbowl is over and I’m headed home when I drive past a cop sitting at the end of my girlfriend’s street. He sees my broken mirror and follows me. I know what’s about to happen so I start panicking. Sure enough, the lights go up and I pull over. He then spends the next half hour interrogating me about what I’m doing out so late and he keeps shining his light in the back of my car, clearly looking for alcohol. I tell him I don’t drink (alcoholism in my family so I just stay away from it) and he tells me to get out of the car. Now I’m standing outside the car shaking and the cop asks what’s wrong with me and I’m panicking more because I’m remembering the car accident and how it felt to have that other cop ask me the same thing. He starts looking through my car and I’m worrying that he’s going to plant something. Eventually he writes me a ticket for my mirror and I tell him I have an appointment scheduled to repair it, but he says I have no proof of that so I’ll have to bring it to the courthouse “if it exists.”

I sure as hell did. If I wasn’t white, I don’t believe that interaction would have ended the same.

Another time I was driving through my apartment complex when a cop pulls me over and yells at me that I rolled through a stop sign in the complex. First of all, BULL. SHIT. Second, even if I had, he doesn’t have the jurisdiction to write me a ticket for that because it’s a private lot. Anyway, he’s got me pulled over and he asks what I was doing and where I was going. I tell him I was going to work and that I would give him my license and registration. I tell him the registration is in the glovebox and I go to reach for it and that’s the first time I ever had a cop pull a gun on me. Fucking terrifying. Dude starts just screaming at me to keep my hands up as I repeat that my registration is in the glovebox. The guy reaches past me and grabs it and yells “Don’t you ever do that again! You listen to me when I’m talking to you!” and my god I am just shaking and wondering why the hell it’s always like this. He eventually writes me a civil infraction for parking obstruction because, again, he can’t write me a ticket for the sign. Not wanting to see him again, I just pay the damn thing.

Again, if I wasn’t white, that absolutely would have ended differently.

I’ve had some pretty bad interactions with cops. Spent time overnight in jail twice just being held for stupid stuff while they “processed” me. One time was more like two days. Another time they kept bringing me in for questioning for a string of robberies that they were convinced I did but really didn’t do. The way cops talk to people, especially when they’re arrested, is dehumanizing. Really radicalized me early.

  18. My first experience was actually when I was in 9th grade. The cops called my parents and claimed that I was witnessed throwing rocks out of a school bus at cars. I obviously didn’t do that. So my dad took me in to the station to answer some questions and it turned out that the story was just a cover to get me to go there because someone had pointed at my picture in the yearbook to identify me as someone who was at an underage party. I wasn’t at that party. I didn’t even drink at the time. So the cops asked all sorts of questions and eventually found that they had no case and let me go. It was super fucked up and I quickly realized how completely dumb most cops are and that they’re often so misinformed and just assume everyone is in the wrong.

Never been pulled over but had traffic cops yell at me because I'm bad if my routine is messed up and a road is blocked because of my anxiety so I can see how mental health can affect how police view you

Time to revolt against speed traps and ridiculously slow speed limits that only exist for them to write more tickets which also causes more accidents.

My ex and I were driving back from dinner when we were 19 or something and they followed us for five or ten minutes then pulled her over. She started getting her license and insurance and they used their speaker to tell us to get out of the car. They immediately put me in cuffs and made me sit on the curb away from her car and questioned her what was in her car. It was mostly car shit and clothes and whatnot, of course. Then they asked if we had guns, rocket launchers, or grenades in the trunk. We were so confused and shocked and were saying no and almost laughing it was so ridiculous and after like fifteen minutes of them talking, they let us go saying that they were tailing us for so long and had to search the car because there was a black mustang like hers that was stolen and it was only one character off on the license plate.

    Bullshit
