Yeah I'm liking it. I guess I could've saved a little because they're now advertising a starter kit with a strat and a practice amp for $200, but I'm cool with what I got. Just bought a wall hanger for it

Feel like I've been seeing a lot of people playing classical guitars lately at home and in livestreams, and it's making me really tempted to just order one of those cheaper Yamaha ones for kicks lol

Damn you’re gonna be LEARNING. I’d fully recommend looking into tabs by the way. I can’t read sheet music to save my life. Tabs is so much easier. It shows a diagram of the guitar fretboard and what fingers to use for each note. Really simple way of learning songs if that’s what you’re trying to do.

I’ve been playing since 2009 ish and I’m still none the wiser with theory. I know what notes to expect across the whole board and where to progress, but yeah no way would be able to understand the theory. Commendable you’re digging that deep!

I'm really bad with rhythm so that's what I need to work on. I may never get it lol

I wish I could credibly play guitar. I’ve had a guitar probably since I was like 14. I’m 32. I know chord shapes but not necessarily names. Suck at pattern and rhythm. Can play some songs from just hearing them but rarely. Can play a few more songs from tabs. Can’t really tune by ear. Worst of all I have pretty small hands so a lot of chords are extremely difficult for me to play or just switch from. I think that’s what puts me off the most.

That being said I may be getting a new guitar sometime this year. I’d love to dive into pedals and effects but I should probably put more time into actually learning to play first.

My advice would be to practice before diving too deep into pedals because the moment I got pedals it felt like progression took a backseat.

But but but anybody who struggles with rhythm DEFINITELY should get a looper pedal. They are bloody fantastic for solo practice and working out timing. Seriously. Can recommend a few if anybody is interested. Looper pedals stopped my progression slump and now I’m pretty good with rhythm and timing. Really really recommend it. It makes you so much better at writing music.

I preordered and finally got one of those BIAS Spark amps - it's pretty interesting. I know most modeling amps have similar capabilities and sounds, but I've really enjoyed it so far. You can do some really neat stuff. For a practice amp at home it's pretty great.

Apologies for the spam. Finally assembled my ‘complete’ Japan board. It took some serious pedal jenga but I’m so pleased with the results. Loving the MOOD. It’s bloody mental. Gonna take a while to fully figure out what’s going on and how to take advantage of it, but that’s 100% of the excitement for me.
