"Who You Are Is Not Enough" by Athletics comes to my mind ;u

Bloom and Breathe by Gates is one album that comes to mind. It’s a little more polished than Pneuma but it’s quite good.

Athletics - Who You Are is not Enough

Gates - You Are All You Have Left to Fear

    Prawn - Ships

    Immanu El - In Passage

Yeah that's one of the few I thought of, ha. It's great!

Two Conversations as well obviously. Can’t believe I forgot that.

i feel like Able Bodies by From Indian Lakes is like a bridge between Pneuma and S/T

Appleseed Cast and (early) Gates are the ones that come closest to Pneuma-era vibes IMO. That Athletics album is fantastic, but feel that’s more in line with Foreword

Yeah it definitely is, but in the way Forward is, it seems like an evolution of the themes and sounds of Pneuma. There's unfortunately not that much great music in the vein of Pneuma :(

I guess I totally agree with you, initially I thought of gates of course, but they're a bit more polished further on, though with their EPs, why not!

I do feel like there are plenty of MovMou-inspired bands/albums that deserve recognition. Deer Leap’s Impermanence, CSTVT’s discography, Prawn’s Kingfisher, The Cast Before the Break’s discography...

Deer Leap, damn yeah I loved some of their stuff. I thought about mentioning CSTVT but I didn't think it was wholly in the same wheelhouse. Same with Pianos Become the Teeth - Old Pride. I also think Ships is way more MovMou than Kingfisher is

I'm listening to the deer leap/twiabp split now. We Are Not Who We Are is such a fantastic song. But again, I think it's more Foreward than Pneuma. I can't totally remember Impermanence other than really vibing with it on release so I might have to go back to that

Ohh also check out Caravela. Not the exact same sound but one of the members was part of MovMou and Greg Dunn produced for them.

I loooooove Foreward and was so let down that Waves was nothing like it.

I always got them mixed up with Caravels.

Same here, I was so in love with Foreword that it made me blind to how awesome Waves actually was at first. Now I love it and have lots of good memories with it my mind!

and same here hahah, got into it more when I realized one of them played in MovMou and like you guys mentioned, Greg produced their awesome record "Ski", definitely top notch, but to me it's absolutely different in its vibe, same with lots of other things Greg has produced, like Dryjacket or Prawn, to me I guess only Athletics were really simillar in sound etc.

I don't talk about Waves any more lol. I think I've posted my feelings about it enough times over the last 9 years

  19. Self titled is probably as close to a perfect record as you can get.

But it’s unfortunately not my favorite MovMou record. Waves is tbh

Caravela’s Ski is so dang good, but yeah, completely different. Also check out Coat of Arms, if you can find it online. That one is also excellent. Don’t care too much for Dryjacket.

Sure ;D I think I remember hahah, respect that ;d ;d just thought I'd share I had the same feeling of letdown after my initial listen, but even after a few spins I definitely changed my mind. I love Waves, but it's not my fav record as well. The thing here was to find something similar to the earlier era - and this is indeed more difficult it seems.

I actually can't really find Coat Of Arms, what's that? The name is too random. As for Dryjacket the record they made with Greg was really awesome, I liked it more than their new one, but it's still a nice band. Though I had hoped for more after Prawn's "Kingfisher" getting to be one of my all time favorites!

It’s a Caravela album and I can’t seem to find it either, but it’s gorgeous and much more moody than Ski. There are a couple songs from it on youtube I’m seeing. Worth digging for though. I used to listen to the album a ton in high school.

Oh ok! Thanks, now I remember, I think it was posted on their bandcamp page before, but I didn't have a chance to get too familiar with it

Also, so Frank Graniero played in MovMou before s/t, and later they played with Josk Kirby, who also produced one of Prawn's EPs, but he used to have his own project as well, which was quite ambitious, I can't pinpoint the name right now, does anybody remember? I have a feeling it also had a mountain or something in the name, but I can't check it from here ehh.
