Without music, life would be a mistake. Supporter

The highs for me are ‘Then Because’ through ‘Me & You’ and then ‘If You’re Too Shy’

Where is this super duper Spotify version? The one I’m on seems pretty standard.

Any album that opens with a five-minute PSA is getting an edit from me. Sorry, but I don't need to sit through that every time I want to listen to this record. Once is enough.

Also, we live in a time when a huge number of people exclusively listen to music via Spotify playlists, one track at a time. Let people consume art however they want.

People have been making mixtapes and genre compilations for decades but apparently that's not how you're "supposed" to consume art.

Skip tracks, make playlists that rearrange the songs, whatever, but as soon as people start talking about “editing” the album and “deleting” songs, I think that’s a legitimately bad way to interact with art.

How is skipping a track every time any different that removing it from a playlist of the album?

Matty out here dropping stems for people to fuck with his tunes but rearranging them is unacceptable. Dunno bout dat mates lol

having said that, I kinda agree with you? Lol

Sometimes altering tracklists or splitting songs off into playlists (or hearing them out of context, in soundtracks, movies, TV shows, commercials, playlists made by others, etc.) is an extremely effective way to drive greater appreciation for the art as a whole. Especially with an album as long and diverse as this one, it's kind of overwhelming to just play the whole thing over and over again from start to finish. There's nothing wrong with finding a different way into the art than what the artist intended. I'll often put albums on shuffle after the first 10 or so times through, because it helps me approach songs in different ways. I find when I do that, I'm not "looking forward" to my favorites in the same way, which helps me appreciate songs I've maybe overlooked or slotted in my mind as being lesser.

  20. I am about halfway through my review of this - might get posted today but I might wait till Monday because 1. there is a lot of 1975 content today and 2. I'm also posting my I'm Glad It's You review today.

Remove it from the playlist. That’s fine. But I know in the past people have literally downloaded a full album and then willy nilly dragged songs into the trash so they can pretend the songs they dislike aren’t on the album. That’s messy.

The way Matty says “get back” in If You’re Too Shy...oh my heart.

Agreed. This full album makes me want to turn it off before I even reach halfway. Removing/skipping some of the tracks that I don't like improves my enjoyment immensely. I think it improves the flow and sequencing and allows some of the songs to breathe more. I feel way more positive about the rest of the album after doing it too

I genuinely don't understand your point of view. There is absolutely no difference in the two to me.
