Nicholson and Ledger's Jokers had philosophies and outlooks on the world, society, and humanity. This Joker didn't appear to have any ambitions beyond being an absurdly stylized gangster.

    Hi, I'm Negan ;)

Best parts of this movie for me, were Deadshot, Harley, and El Diablo. Can't really judge this Joker on 20 mins of screen time tbh. He is for sure crazy.

I've seen this point being made on Leto's Joker, but remember that Ledger's Joker wasn't in very much of The Dark Knight.

That's right, it was about 35 minutes out of a 152 minute runtime.

  5. I think this speaks volumes about how fantastic Heath Ledger was.

Yes, but Ledger's Joker was also the main villain in the film he was in. They didn't utilize Leto as the Joker as much as I thought they would given the trailers.

I'm agreeing with you guys. My point was to show how bad Leto was as Joker in the time he was on screen.

  8. Got me thinking about TDK now. Joker's first scene in that movie is so awesome, and in Joker's first scene in SS he's basically an afterthought.

To that, I'd have to ask why Joker was even in Suicide Squad. He had just a couple of small interactions with Task Force X. It just seemed tacked on I guess is what I'm trying to say.

    Hi, I'm Negan ;)

you are saying he is bad though in context of following Ledger's performance, which no one will top. This Joker is also a different kind of Joker.

he was in it to establish Harley's story.

Seeing as it seems that he had a lot of scenes cut, it is difficult to answer this.

  13. Saw this again last night. As I said after my first watch, I thought this movie was a lot of fun. It suffers from a boring villain, like most superhero movies, and some lackluster writing. I think Leto's Joker looked great and scary, but wish he had better writing and scenes to work with. I love that of all the characters in this, Waller was the most terrifying.

I've heard that one of Joker's deleted scenes was him showing up to the final battle to get Harley, and her picking the Squad over him. No idea if that would've fit, since he rescues her at the end anyways, but it's an interesting in concept and would've added more to the explorations of their abusive relationship.

I agree on your remarks on the director yet I disagree with those made toward the film.

I heard there were some trailer bits cut from the movie, I can't remember what they are.

It is a film that finds its place between action and comedy in a way none of these other films seem to. It is not hard to introduce new characters to an audience; regular films do it in ninety minutes all the time.

a few that come to mind are joker with the grenade, the "im gonna show you my toys" line from him, and harley saying something or another in the bar scene

I just finished a 1400 word review for this thing, I'm going to post it to my site tonight and I'm curious what you guys will think.

Nicholson's Joker was a sadistic gangster, Ledger was the anarchist, and Leto was James Franco's character from Spring Breakers. So whoever that was.

    haha that's pretty accurate.

Here is a quick question: why was Joker allowed to wear his "grill" and have dyed green hair while in a mental institution?

The better question is why did the think it was a good idea to have Diablo have his ridiculous face tattoos during the "family man" flashbacks.

The only complaints I ever hear from that movie is that they didn't get their suits right so they look too "flashy". Other than that, extremely true to the comic's story, aside from lack of giant squid.

I live in southern california, not too far from LA. There are people like that living "normal" lives with families. They just live off of the system. But it does make you wonder why people get tattoos like that in the first place.

I will not have James Franco and the endlessly rewarding and fascinating and beautiful Spring Breakers lowered to the crusty, discarded street underwear this movie is
