That scene is a reference to Goodfellas and an inside joke about the cast, since Michael Imperioli got shot in the foot in that and in Sopranos is the one doing the shooting. It’s not really indicative of the show as a whole in any way, except that there is a fair amount of violence throughout. It’s absolutely incredible though and has so many more layers than someone who has never watched it might think.
