This is the first one I'm missing. Just never been interested in The Beatles sadly.

Have you ever listened to any full albums of theirs? Or just heard singles?

Now is as good a time as any to listen to all of their albums. So happy I did that personally.

It's a history lesson in itself, with music that holds up 50+ years later

Yeah I've heard full albums. I do like the odd song to be fair. Maybe I'll give it a go at some point.

This seems like as good of a time to say this as any.

Possibly my favorite moment of any concert I’ve ever attended was when I saw Paul perform Hey Jude in Cleveland, and I joined in with 20,000 people singing the “Na Na Na” part as he sang over us.

I just became overwhelmed by all of it. The sheer history of seeing him play all those Beatles songs, how they still hold up, and how all these years later it is still so meaningful and the sheer unity of that moment.

    It was unforgettable.

I'd suggest starting with Rubber Soul and Revolver then exploring from there

    I was right. Prestigious

I saw Paul perform in 2008 and had pretty much the same experience during Hey Jude! my family made a road trip out of it since the show was in Quebec City, which is where my parents first met and obviously being big Beatles fans there was no way they were missing that show
It was the first show I’d ever been to outside my hometown. I’d never seen a crowd that big, let alone a crowd all singing and feeling the same thing at the same time, it was really powerful.

So since this started my store manager (I work in a grocery store) has officially sanctioned us wearing headphones as long as we can still hear customers, so I’ve just been burning through discographies. It’s really made me realize how much I love this band. I’ve almost never listened to their last three records aside from a couple tracks, though, so we’ll see where we stand, but I’ve been enjoying seeing how these records stack up for me. Right now I’m at:

Transatlanticism: Perfect. One of my all time favorite albums.

The Photo Album: For a long time my favorite DC record. I feel like when people hear the name Death Cab for Cutie, this is what they imagine.

Plans: The back half of this is so strong. Someday to Stable song is perfection.

We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes: Kinda showing its age now, but still some great songs.

Narrow Stairs: A few songs I love and several that just float right by me. There’s no reason whatsoever I Will Possess Your Heart needs to be that long.

Codes and Keys: This was my first time listening all the way through and while it’s definitely at the bottom for now, there’s four or five songs on here I definitely plan to come back to. It’s just a bit too much experimentation for no real reason. A lot of the songs just meander and I lose interest.

Thank You for Today: I honesty found this almost entirely forgettable despite some claims I read that it was a return to form, and then “60 & Punk” comes out of fucking nowhere. A top ten Death Cab song for me, maybe top five.

The bass line in Heart though is so good I’ll allow the run time. Never gets old

I have the single version of I Will Possess Your Heart and it makes the song so much better.

  21. I love the full version so much, the build up is like the whole point of the song imo and the way the music gets quiet just when Ben finally comes in is magical

Idk. It felt like an attempt to recreate the magic of Transatlanticism but with a song that was super lightweight and didn’t really need it.

It works particularly well for me coming after Bixby. I always imagine a set starting out that way.
