My brother has been with us a little over a week and it's going fine for the most part, but man, he's like the most apathetic person i've ever encountered lol. I mean I wasn't the greatest teenager either but it's really difficult to get him to give a shit about school and like maturity in general. He seems pretty far behind for his age :/ I feel his mom did him such a disservice

Yeah totally, HS wasn't my thing either, I actually dropped out and got my GED, but we're just trying to get him through it because the GED is actually much harder than just getting your diploma lol. He doesn't really have any passions either but that's something Jocelyn and I talked about a lot before he came here was trying to help him find something he's interested in. We've been playing some baseball together and he enjoys that. I just feel terrible for him because we think online school isn't a good environment for him since it's so hands off and kind of isolating, he wants to go to a real school and try out for baseball but with everything going on I doubt in-person schooling will happen for a long time

 

I barely have passions and I'm in my 30s haha

 

He was when he was living with his mom and that's actually a super long story and partly why he's living with us now lol, she's so uptight and crazy about weed and was making him take drug tests and stuff

Is he social and just apathetic or does he prefer to keep to himself? Picking up something creative might help like drawing/painting, picking up an instrument, or video games can be social or not too.

Yeah, online isn't great earlier than college I feel like, because there you either have the drive or you flunk out and move on. Much harder to do in HS.
