Yes. And the whole Enchantress thing is just bizarre. It was a bad idea that probably was too far along to abandon. Really senseless plot wise. The "mission" had little impact and was really just a way to use violence while maintaining a PG13 rating. Lame.

When Harley is escaping and they're freaking out about her neck bomb not working, why don't they shoot her? I almost laughed out loud in the theater at their frantic struggle.

With a character as lively and vibrant as the Joker, why is about half of his presence through text messages?

This wasn't a good way to introduce The Joker. He is arguably the most iconic comic book villain and he seemed like nothing more than a bland modern crime boss in this.

I thought it was funny during the Diablo flashbacks how they didn't remove his tattoos. Like they are trying to portray him as this dedicated father and husband that's on the wrong side of the law to support his family. Didn't really fly when the camera pans to a guy with a face covered in tattoos.

Waller needed rescued from hostile territory. So she activated the people she knew she could control and potentially stood a chance against the ummmm... Putty patrol?

"minimally present Joker (played by Jared Leto with a mannered feyness so annoying it suggests a talking mime)."

Also: "team leader Rick Flag, a simple soldier in search of even one good line."

    Be my alibi?

I get the rescue part, but the whole beginning premise of the movie was to have meta humans fighting on the governments side. Their mission was to secure a high valued asset, they were not suppose to engage enchantress, that wasn't their job....which defeats their purpose.

Why did they need Task Force X to do anything. Seems like they used a bomb to dispatch the brother (forgot his name, did he have a name?). Why not just fire a middle at where Enchantress was building her CGi gobblygook and end it

I had a lot of fun with this. As with BvS I get some of the complaints but I still had a ton of fun through it. Davis, Robbie, Leto and Smith were awesome. So was the dude who played Boomerang but I don't know his name off of the top of my head.

All the actors were great in their roles (even Leto, who has impossible shoes to fill). They all deserved better.

And his name is Jai Courtney.

  16. Despite liking this, I think I'd really be interested in seeing a longer director's cut, or even just an alternate cut altogether. As that review above me points out, a lot of moments feel like they were much longer scenes that cut chopped up and moved around. The Joker torture scene from the first trailer at comic con last year, for instance.

Their mission was to save Waller. Not necessarily to stop Enchantress.

Apparently, it broke a box office record. But, that doesn't mean anything any longer. It occurs to me that the DC cinematic universe is going to be the one that destroys the comic book movie bubble. Perhaps their lack of quality is an intentional poisoning of the well by Warner Bros. to undermine one of Disney's more profitable divisions.

Didn't Ayer say we'd never see a directors cut? Wouldn't it be two separate movies?

I honestly think they're trying to put out quality movies, but are failing under the pressure to match Marvel's critical/profitable successes while differentiating their product.

The comic book movie bubble talk has been going on for a few years, and it's quite possible that it's not even a bubble, just a newly formed genre. I can imagine people 65 years ago talking about the cowboy western "bubble". It certainly had a golden era, but you can find highly profitable/iconic westerns in every decade since.
