Think all new AC-15s have an onboard spring reverb, but that being said, I like the sound of a Hot Rod Deluxe over the usual Vox sound and the built in spring reverb on the new Hot Rod IVs is gorgeous

I’m always gonna say go for Fenders over any other brand personally. But that’s the point - everyone is going to have their own favourite sound.

Amps are a minefield. Each brand has a very distinct sound and you’re not always going to like it / it won’t sound best for your style.

Always always always recommend trying out amps, guitars and pedals in store. Once you feel informed enough, then you can go from there. With pedals there are THOUSANDS of variants of each different effect. For example someone mentioned a Big Muff earlier - there’s like 20 versions of that and for me personally and my style, that’s way too harsh a distortion/drive sound.

Luckily, the vast majority of every type of pedal will have YouTube demos. And hey - if you visit the Guitar Pedals thread there’s plenty of us nerds that can help you out with each aspect of guitar/amps/pedals.

they’re $450 new but it’s got some dings. It’s a 2019 and I got it used. I haven’t had it long so I never got it set up. Get guitar center to give it a setup and file a some frets and I’m sure it would be a good player. The humbuckers are probably the best humbucker I’ve ever heard - but the reason I’m maybe wanting to get rid of it is that I’d rather have the exact same guitar but with single coils pickups instead. I think $200 would be a great price for it - just gotta make sure if I actually wanna give it up.

They’re so fucking beautiful! I sold my sparkly Jazzmaster a while back. It was STUNNING but it needed a bit of work that I wasn’t up to. And stupidly I was craving an American one. I sold it to a guy who fully kitted it out and made it somehow even more beautiful.

...I still need an American one. A custom shop if possible haha.

I think my end goal in life is to own a custom shop Fender that I designed myself. But we’re talking thousands of £s. A man can dream.

I thought I was into Jazzmasters but now I firmly believe a good Strat and Tele are what’s what. Jaguars are better than Jazzmasters too I think - they’re both thought of as “surf” guitars but the Jag whips it really good at that as does the Strat if you get a neck/bridge blend. Jazzy’s pickups are too hot so it sounds decidedly less vintagey and Fendery. They’re still cool though - and beautiful obviously.

I think that depends entirely on the model. I’ve found vintage-voiced ones are wonderful. In my experience Jaguars have sounded quite weak unless you’re using the bridge pickup - which gets so trebly it’s like an ice pick at times. If I recall, they actually have the weakest output of all the flagship models. It’s dripping with Fender spanky tones though, and is absolutely more ‘surf’ than a Jazzmaster.

I’ve never known Jazzmasters to be branded as ‘surf’ though. They’re their own beast. Always attributed ‘surf’ to Jags.

I was amazed at how good the neck and blended output positions are on my Tele though. Like, silky, full-on Strat tones. Gorgeous. Those and the out of phase Strat tones are my favourite though.
