    Friday's picks.

    Creeping Death - Wretched Illusions
    youtube.com/watch?v=s5QCVeKqQPQ
As the thread probably already knows, my favorite new metal band in recent memory. Had to put them on here before someone else got to em. Not sure if this is my favorite track from the record or not, but it's a ripper and probably one that not everyone has heard.

Ripped to Shreds - Opening Salvo
    youtube.com/watch?v=2xGuwxNmcTc

    One man death metal project

    Crowbar - All I Had I Gave
    youtube.com/watch?v=407YNmRKvQs

Haven't really listened to them in ages, but this song popped in my head so...

    Today's three:

The Afternoon Gentlemen - Self-Titled - War on the Poor (Grindcore for drunks)

Bongripper - Miserable - Endless (Smoke up)

Prayer For Cleansing - The Rain In Endless Fall - Sonnet (Metalcore band featuring two members of Between the Buried and Me that I like more than I every BTBAM record except for The Silent Circus and Alaska. So sue me)

Their 2018 release is still fair game if you want to pick that today! Yellow River Incident, 1938 is a bop.

my theme for today is three japanese bands.

Sabbat - Disembody - Metamorphosis ( the other Sabbat for @theagentcoma, if you were wondering what Venom would sound like if they were actually good and had more than three good songs, here ya go)
Gonin-ish - Naishikyo-Sekai - The Crimson Memory (What if a metal band liked Zeuhl? 19 minute odyssey of technical spastiscm that is somehow beautiful)
Coffins - Mortuary in Darkness - Torture (Y'all like sewage? Death-Doom sewage? Yes, you do.)

Good looks on this. Death metal isn’t normally my thing but I saw apparently this is the members of Weekend Nachos and that got me interested, and I’m enjoying it

Today is Obsequiae day. I've raved about this band for years since discovering them back in 2015. I've never been able to find anything else quite like them, but a few bands come close in terms of style.

    First, the band itself obviously.

Obsequiae - Aria of Vernal Tombs - "Orphic Rites of the Mystic" - closer to their 2015 album. Encapsulates their sound perfectly.
Vehemence - PAR LE SANG VERSE - "LA DERNIERE CHEVAUCHEE" - French medieval black metal band, album came out last year. Hits the Obsequiae itch pretty closely.
Nechochwen - Heart of Akamon - "The Serpent Tradition" - these guys predate Obsequiae and take a more folky approach to their brand of black metal.

Also they're not on Spotify, but if any of these bands are up your alley, Flamen is another one to look into. Their album from last year is also of the medieval tinged black metal variety.

Older band who is not quite like Obsequaie but I am sure Obsequaie has said they have been influenced by them is Windir.

Also I love all your picks!

Damn I forgot all about Blood Eagles. I might've picked that one had I remembered it but I think Constellation edges it out for me ever so slightly. As for your favorites, I'll go out on a limb and wager the top two are... Eschaton and Hell Is Empty?

You got one of them the correct! Eschaton is my second favorite, I was so glad to find an OG pressing on vinyl for 10 bucks, it was marked down because the jacket, but it sounds so much better than those Back on Black records. My all time favorite Anaal Nathrakh is The Codex Necro. Hell is Empty is my fourth. I love pretty much everything up to Constellation and then I kind of thought they got a little too clean for me.

Thanks for the submissions! Keep at it everyone. And people who have skipped today feel free to come back! Fresh faces too!

Anyways here are my 1 in the morning choices for 4/2.
    Theme: Icelandic Black Metal

Misþyrming - Söngvar elds og óreiðu - Ég byggði dyr í eyðimörkinni (Icelandic Black Metal at it's finest, the riff near the end is possibly one of my favorite riffs of the decade.)
Almyrkvi - Umbra - Stellar Winds of the Dying Star (Space Indrustrial meets Black Metal. The soundtrack to levitation.)
Svartidauđi - Flesh Cathedral - Sterile Seeds (The band that put this scene on the map. What an album. What an album opener. What a stylistic birth to a new crop of hungry, forlorn souls. Worship.)

  23. I don't listen to enough metal these days, which I'm trying to fix so I can't come up with any other names right now. I'll think about it for this afternoon
