On Apple Music in the you might also like section for TDAG there was an album by the band Eels and I gotta say i'm digging it so far.

Yeah my lecturer at uni made us listen to an Eels album in full one time. Very fucking good.

Which one was it? I know them from The OC lol but I never gave them a proper listen. Have a few songs by them but no full albums until this one. I've added it to my music.

Electro-Shock Blues. My lecturer spent two hours discussing his life and how his dad was a famous scientist who had no time for him, and his mom died pretty early on. It's tragic stuff really, but to go on from that and make critically acclaimed damn good music is admirable to say the least.

EDIT - Just read up on him and remembered his sister committed suicide around the same time he was recording that album, and then his mother got diagnosed with cancer too. Fuck. Would explain the themes of that album.

Oh yeah that's rough. The one I just listened to was ''Shootenanny!'' I liked it.

Edit: Enjoyed the lyrics. Guess I need to check them out more.

I'll give that a listen, cos I honestly haven't come across any Eels stuff since I finished uni and stopped speaking to the lecturer.

Yeah you should! I'm now listening to Julian Plenti because of the you might also like section related to TDAG.

Edit: Guess I need to start trusting Apple Music more. I'm enjoying this one too even though it sounds nothing like it.

I would use Apple Music but isn't that a subscription service? Plus I'm so arrogant - I find it really difficult to listen to anything anybody recommends me unless I'm personally invested on a certain level. I'd probably purposely ignore what Apple thought I might like just because I'm stupid and prefer to find things for myself as and when I feel like changing up. It comes across as really rude and I don't know why I'm like that. Guess it's like some insecurity and never wanting to step out my comfort zone pahahaha.
Obviously I'll be listening to that Eels album you recommended because I'm interested - it's just when a friend is like HEY LISTEN TO THIS! You'll like this! And in my head I'm like 'don't tell me what to do. You don't know what I like.' So Apple Music and Spotify playlists are like the automated version of that annoying friend.

EDIT - I am so sorry for this incessant bullshit rant. Don't read this. It's not worth your time. It's also in no way meant to be insulting to you or anybody. I'm on about services that suggest music :)

I'm curious- has the band given us any reason to believe they went in the studio to record more than Mene and IAAN? Was an album or EP ever confirmed?

In the press release for IAAN they said something like "from the upcoming album"

I rarely listen to the suggestions, but I have found some good stuff in them every now and again. I mostly use it for decision making. If I find myself playing an album a ton, I'll go find it on physical format.

I love it. Such a great summer night album. It's got a special place for me because it was kind of the soundtrack for me and my buddy climbing up a random mountain this summer and sleeping on the cliff side. I played the record a lot that night, whenever I listen to it I get big feels from that time
