Had to get the vinyl

 

I'd love to get the vinyl, but not knowing if I'll still be in the same place (assuming it's possible to move out then) once it arrives makes it a difficult choice.

 

Speaking of which, not surprised whatsoever on her thoughts on the album

 

This album is a test of how weird and 'artsy' something can be while still being accessible. It's obviously uncompromising, but every now and then there's a poppy chorus, mostly because she feels like it ("Heavy Balloon" is my favorite example.) I would recommend this to virtually anyone.

 

this is amazing and she seems amazing

 

Had been hearing some Bob Dylan in the vocal phrasings on the Waxahatchee album and then this thing just dropped from the heavens. I love the confidence you can hear all over every song. She’s tapped into something remarkable on these recordings.

 

Wonderful album. The backing vocals, percussion, lyrics...stellar.

 

yeah, this is truly remarkable.

 

current favourite run is Rack of His --> Cosmonauts

 

This but include Relay. Currently my favorite track on this.

 

I think this might be my AOTY. It's super good. It's at least top 5 in my AOTY right now.

 

Everyone’s (rightfully) highlighted the mantra at the center of “Relay” but that repeated verse is killer in every way: writing, sentiment, delivery.

 

Could listen to Fiona sing “While I’m in this body I want somebody to want/ and I want what I want/ and I want you to love me”

the best moment on the entire album of great moments. I’ve been reading a lot of Dr. Suess to my son and it’s given me a newfound appreciation for words and how something seemingly so simple (4 word alliteration score!) is actually complex and just tumbles out of the mouth beautifully. It’s so satisfying. She uses repetition wonderfully here.

 

Also. A totally weird thing but the chorus of “Cosmonauts” reminds me of Jack Johnson. I think it’s her diction and phrasing. Sounds like something lifted off of In Between Dreams. Not a knock because it’s probably my second favorite song on the record and I like early JJ. Just an observation.

 

Haha that's funny you say that, I had Better Together in my head the first time I heard Cosmonauts.

Ladies is becoming one of my favorite songs of hers.

Still not liking this as much as Idler Wheel, but maybe it'll keep growing.
