    Be my alibi?

Film critics 100% influence whether or not I see a movie in the theaters, but not whether or not I see them at all. I was looking forward to seeing The Legend of Tarzan movie, but with critics not approving and friends recommending I don't waste my money, I'll wait and rent it. The new DC universe sounds like it's going the same way where it might not be worth the money to see in theaters, but I'll rent it because I do want to see it and judge for myself.

  2. I won't say I'm not influenced by reviews, but I don't depend on them. There have been plenty of times where I disagree with the consensus scores on RT one way or the other. Seeing this tonight with somewhat tempered expectations, but still excited.

Pretty sure you're right. The ending of BvS indicates a clear change of character for him.

  3. People who hate BvS, have you tried watching the extended ultimate edition? That's the only version I've seen and I thought it wasn't bad, must've fixed a lot of problems you guys had.

I watched it. It added a little bit of context to some stuff. But I wouldn't say it really fixed anything. If anything, it made the movie worse because it was longer.

hahaha who is comparing those to Blade Runner? I made an example of a film that was trashed by critics when released and loved decades later. That is it. Hmmmmm.

I don't think it was really celebrating them as a couple, unless a fun couple is one where their relationship starts out with one telling the other "I'm going to hurt you real, real bad." Plus, The Joker straight-up drove off of a bridge and left her in the car to die. I took it much more as a manipulative, abusive relationship.

People seem to always complain when origin stories are changed for films. This is one of those instances where the story warranted the change. Why leave that shit in there? They could have written around Dini's version of the character. Given it isn't even close to the way she used to be written anyway, it would have made so much sense.

This is the only version I seen, and I thought it was pretty terrible to be honest.

If I met someone opining about how great those movies were, I'd just walk away and say nothing as an of kindness

I liked Man of Steel more than most but it has deep-seated, fundamental problems that are really glaring.

I'd like to hear them if you have time. I honestly think it's fantastic and more than I thought any Superman movie could be. It's the reason I had such high hopes for BvS.....

i would love for someone to make a site or algorithm where I can see which critic i can trust the most. Like, if i plug in my feelings on past movies i've seen, and the more movies i plug in, the more accurate CRITIC match I get.

that way I know which critic should be my go to.

you can also break it down to genres. Like, one particular critic might have the same opinion specifically on comic book movies, so when there's a comic book movie out...THATS the critic you look for.

  14. Going to see this tonight. The reviews haven't really swayed my excitement, except for that the joker and Harley being a cutesy couple without very much reference to the abusive nature of their relationship seems... Problematic. Not sure how much I like that.

in the theater. Let's see how it actually is.

Ps. Why do parents keep brining little kids to these movies? I mean, I get it, it's a comic book movie. But comic book movies have not been for kids for a long time, especially DC ones. Oh well. They are usually quiet, minus the infant who cried off and on through BVS.

We will never live in a world where a movie with a crocodile-man hybrid is not for kids.

  21. I know you probably weren't referring to me specifically, but I didn't say BvS was great, I just think the version I saw wasn't bad. I have no doubt in my mind that the theatrical version sucked. Not only has almost everyone said so, I also read briefly about the differences, and yeah, it leaves out a lot.

  22. Terrible is a pretty strong word. What made you think so?

Well technically there was, but I don't know. It feels like it was something that was reminded and then quickly forgotten. I'm sure other people would think it did the job well enough but for me it didn't.

Disagree. While not a great film, this was much more enjoyable than BvS.

It's a very weird universe where the "bad" guys seem to genuinely want to do good more than Superman does.
