Aside from a few tracks - I really don’t like that Linkin Park record.

Unrelated but kinda related: ouch is the best track on amo

That is a spicy take my dude. I always saw that and Fresh Bruises as a filler tracks.

My top favorites off Amo is Mantra, In The Dark, and Sugar Honey Ice & Tea.

  4. That would be Nihilist Blues for me, one of the few that pushed the boundaries

Suicide Season is the best album since In Utero and That’s the Spirit is diluted hot farts.

I remember in the BMTH bracket you guys were saying ouch was the best track on amo and I was certain you all were joking.

Anything before Suicide Season is garbage.

    SS - 7
    TIAH - 9
    Sempiternal - 9.5
    TTS - 6
    Amo - 7

Someone in the bracket agreed with me and put it more eloquently but basically it just accomplishes a lot in a shorter time frame. The piano’s infectious, it’s really well paced, the vocals are great. Idk just a really cool little song, not meant to be a slight to the others.

    Proof I’m not alone!

    1. There is a hell
    2. Sempitermal
    3. Depends on the day. SS gave us Chelsea smile but feels more dated. Amo is their most unique but has the lowest highs I think. TTS has the highest highs but makes some really weird decisions and isn’t very cohesive to me.

I really thought I missed a BMTH release when y'all were saying Sandpit Turtle. I had to google it.

If they want to go back to any old sound then just do There Is a Hell Pt. 2

As for SS, there were some moments in the album that pushed boundaries in 2008, but nothing on that album would sound anything more than bland today.

  15. I wasn't aware of all these studio updates. It sounds like they're moving back to a guitar centric sound closer to That's The Spirit, while keeping the more overt electronic influences of amo. Kind of surprising.

I was surprised listening to the studio updates as well. I was expecting them to go further into the influences explored on Amo and personally I was hoping they were going to as well. If we get more Ludens type songs though I'm game.

Was amo the commercial success they were hoping?

It got number 1 here in the UK and they landed a lot of big mainstream festival slots.

I think they would have achieved both of those things if they had continued to be a metal band though.

For reference Sempiternal got to number 3 in the UK and TTS got to number 2.

I kind of dig it. It's like Nihilist Blues with a heavier chorus.

I can see that, I'm just feeling like they're losing most of their ability to write incredible hooks and catchy melodies, for a lame attempt at weirdness/heaviness. idk, I'm at the point where I'll like a few songs from each album and move on
