If I could just forget it

We have a thin-skinned idiot saying anything and everything to get attention. We also have a woman who has a penchant for bombing and killing people.

This Paul Nehlen interview on CNN is a disaster. He has no idea what he is talking about. He said if it were up to Paul Ryan we would have open borders. And then he got mad at them for asking him questions about whether he wanted Trump to endorse him.

I feel immensely safer with Hillary in office, versus Trump, no question

my family is ironically republican and like trump. they very willingly and purposefully ignore all the misogynistic remarks and the republicans criticizing him. it's all over TV but they act like it's not happening. what i posted up there about the obama remark was not even an exaggeration.

I don't think there is any reason to feel anxious about your parent's views. Just don't discuss it with them.

A few years ago I was having dinner with my mom, I took a closer look at her plasma television and the Fox News logo was burned into the lower left corner of the screen. So that's what I'm dealing with. But we just don't talk about it.

If there is one piece of unsolicited advice that I have, it's to continue to ask your parent's questions instead of arguing. Starting sentences out like "Don't you you feel like....though?" or "But isn't it true that...?" Stay calm, and avoid getting angry, and you may find common ground.

Yeah, my parents are independent pretty much and thankfully don't like Trump but I still feel bad about myself when we disagree

  15. My mom and I have bonded over general distaste for Hillary, but that's about it. We don't debate because we know we aren't going to sway each other in any way, haha.

It depends on the views. If your parent's holds racist/sexist/etc. beliefs then that's reallllllly uncomfortable. Cause it's not just an opinion, it's every uneducated and harmful one that contributes to our societal ills.

  18. My mom is pretty socially liberal but absolutely fiscally conservative. My dad, on the other hand, is a full blown diehard republican who definitely keeps Fox News on all day. Unfortunately believes anything he hears from them.

I don't know about your parents, but a lot of immigrants/POC I know found America's... uh... I guess I'll call it "Cowboy Culture" attractive. I know my pops did. Though I don't recall his views at all, I think it's why many immigrants/POC lean conservative.

Both my parents are die-hard democrats; Dad grew up on a farm, sort of poor, so always viewed the democratic party as the party for the poor, so that's where his political leanings always were. Mom grew up Catholic, but traveled a bunch, seeing the world, and has always loved the diversity of this world, embracing people from different countries, ethnicities, colors, racial backgrounds, LBGT, whoever, so she's always had democratic leanings as well, as they don't appear to close off certain groups anywhere near as much as conservatives

I guess it would depend on the views. But knowing, for example, that my mother is not a racist person, her saying something maybe about Muslim terrorism instead of saying "that's racist!" I might say "don't you feel like that is a little uncharitable the vast majority of peaceful Muslims?"

I feel like I gain more ground that way.

My mom was a Marxist growing up in Italy. She came to America after meeting my father and promptly saw the error of her ways. Unfortunately her partner is a die-hard trump supporter and it's beyond frustrating talking to this guy.

My father was at one time a Republican, but now detests them as much as anyone.

They are both really easy to talk to, even when we disagree. It's funny considering they haven't talked in 15 years except through lawyers.

I've been in conversations where I go at an angle, but it doesn't matter how much ground you make if they don't realize and admit racism. Like that Miss Teen USA. She basically danced around the word racism. Folks often do in those kind of "apologies" or realizations that they're wrong.
