Someone didn't get the memo that this is the chillest fucken thread on chorus. @Deathblow go listen to Teenager and come back when you've settled down.

White Pony will always have a special place in my heart as my introduction, but I think Diamond Eyes is my favorite album.

I always go back and forth between these two albums for my favorite, but I lean towards Diamond Eyes because it's the one I've gravitated towards the most over the past few years

I wish I liked DE as much as y'all. I like it, but I felt like it was a slightly timid comeback album, and I really like everything they did on KNY much better.

To me, Diamond Eyes is just so much heavier and more aggressive than Koi No Yokan. I also find that Diamond Eyes is more memorable of an album and keeps me engaged from start to finish, whereas Koi No Yokan loses me at times and has a couple songs that have never really grabbed me. Koi No Yokan is also 10-11 minutes longer, which may not seem like a big deal, but it kinda is for me when I find Diamond Eyes more memorable and engaging.

That said, Koi No Yokan has some fantastic songs, particularly Rosemary, What Happened To You, Entombed, and Tempest.

I love Goon Squad, but the echoing "the same shit I've outgrownOWnOwnOwnOwn....." and the other times with the lingering echo effect I feel really drag the song down.

DE a timid comeback album? Come on, dude.

Goon Squad is one of the two songs that I could do without tbh

Ain't nothing timid about putting out a comeback album that starts with Diamond Eyes and Royal

Right? Can't think of a word less suitable for DE than "timid"

Can't remember where I read it but I recall someone calling Diamond Eyes "sexy Meshuggah" and I can't think of a better description.

DE and KNY are both fucking great.

Yeah I like it plenty, but it feels pretty straightfoward. That seems to be why a lot of people like it. I feel like KNY spices things up more.

Hey I tell you what, I'm gonna put on Diamond Eyes now and see if anything has changed.

  17. I agree with all this. First half of KNY is good and the second half is great (love the heavier tracks), but the songs never quite catch me the way DE's do.

It's such a weird album. I feel like the first consistent stretch of songs that really grabs me is Tempest -> Gauze -> Rosemary. Otherwise, it just feels like I'm bouncing around between songs I'm really into and songs that drag at times or feel very run-of-the-mill.

Straightforward for Deftones maybe. It captures a live feel, like Around The Fur. But I don't really see how someone could think it was a straightforward album.

Yeah I'm doing this for DE, so go for it.

Title Track: incredible, always liked this ever since it was released as a single.
Royal: It's fine. Not very memorable IMO outside of an absolutely blistering outro that I really like.

CMND/CTRL: Eh. Don't like the bouncy nu metal style verses. Chorus is fine. Honestly yeah, not a lot of redeeming factors for me with this one.
You've Seen the Butcher: Highlight. Love the atmosphere. Yep. Nothing else profound to say, I love this one.

Beauty School: Yeah this chorus is great. Drums are incredible on this one (more than they normally are).
Prince: this reminds me a lot of White Pony, Street Carp maybe? Just doesn't do much for me personally. Hmm bridge is awesome though, but I still don't dig the verses and chorus here.
