If you have a sore throat or runny nose then it's most likely allergies or a cold and not covid-19.

I don’t know what to do. I work at a used bookstore in Maryland and we aren’t closing down. One county over from us has reported their first virus. Our employer sent a fax saying if anyone wants to stay home they can but we being pressured into staying. No one is taking this serious, all Maryland schools are closed but families are all out and about shopping. Our county has issued our own emergency, but no one is doing anything. I have half a mind to self quarantine and if I have a job at the end of it, good. If not, I’ll find another low paying job to become a slave to.

So I’ve had this dry cough since March 5th. I threw up twice in the shower this morning from it, but haven’t had a fever since Friday night/Saturday. But my cough isn’t really bringing anything up. I have no idea what to do.

I am no longer religious and not sure I believe in a God anymore, but fuck. In times like these, I'm so scared that I'm praying like crazy in the slight chance there is a God out there. If there is one, I still refuse to believe he's the vengeful and bigoted God that the Catholic Church hammered into me growing up, but fuck. What do I do? I know it's likely more of a coping mechanism than anything.. but feeling really desperate and wanting hope and help. I'm so scared about my girlfriend having to go into work and my compromised immune system being affected.

Obviously not a doctor here but based on everything that's been reported thus far it's unlikely you still have it full-blown without the fever, right? Maybe you had it but are recovering? Bad coughs can definitely linger for a while after having something like the flu.

It’s normal for a cough to linger for 2-3 weeks after an upper respiratory infection. I’ve had so many patients this winter with similar stories. It really sucks but all you can do is over the counter cough meds, honey, cough drops etc.

Good luck - hope you feel better soon!

I had a really, really bad cold back in late January, my cough didn't fully go away until like two weeks ago. I was coughing so hard I was giving myself migraines. For like a month.

wrap yourself in petals for armor.

one of my favorite parts of all of this is my credit cards/bill collectors emailing me and letting me know just how much they're doing for me to make it easy as ever to pay my bills.

My girlfriend had an elderly client who wore a mask but she kept pulling it down every time she talked to her. God people are stupid

To me that qualifies as an underlying health issue

About $700 per person if it was spread equally.

There have been healthy young people put in ICUs in need of ventilators to survive respiratory failure. Sure, they may survive and not count toward the death toll, but if our hospitals are full (which is already happening), even those people will die.

Also, I'm one of these people with underlying health problems so seeing people be dismissive of people like me, my parents and grandparents dying is really hurtful.

Hey, if states stop evictions but not rent payments, I'm guessing that means you still need to pay up on those missed payments when the emergency laws get pulled?

So you could owe tens of thousands of dollars in a few months from now?

If anyone knows offhand, is this relief for citizens only? Would green card holders get a check?
