Rubicon is decent (I struggle to get into Gore as a whole, tbh). None of their closers are *bad*, I just personally find a lot of them missing the mark for me in terms of greatness.

Also Abe's ex-wife's part on MX is great.

Gore is the only record of theirs I struggle to get into too. I haven't really given it much time since its release though. I should probably return to it now and see if it strikes me differently.

I love Gore. For some reason i've had it on rotation since like November. Usually by now I'd have had enough but for some reason it's the only Deftones album I've been this in love with, front to back. It always astounds me that it's not more appreciated by their fanbase

Gore slaps, but it's closer to middle of the pack for me in their discography than among my favorite albums from them at this point. Great album still though.

jerry cantrell's solo makes me wish that had an extra guitarist so steph could focus on groove/riffs but there could still be some flexing from time to time

I think my favorite from Gore these days is.... Xenon? Which was probably my least fav when the album first came out

Rubicon is fine, not one of their best songs though imo

My ranking of their albums has shifted quite a bit as of late. I think it’s easiest for me to rank them in tiers

    Tier 1:
    Self-Titled
    Tier 2:
    White Pony, Around the Fur
    Tier 3:
Saturday Night Wrist, Koi No Yokan, Diamond Eyes
    Tier 4:
    Gore
    Tier 5:
    Adrenaline

I would put DE on the same tier as WP, and AtF personally.

I get that, it's a real good album, just for me I feel like it falls off a bit in the back half in terms of holding my interests (I don't think any of the songs are bad, just one of those records that elicits listener fatigue for me). It's also just generally not my favorite sonic direction from them overall; feels like a straight-up hard rock album throughout most of it, and they do that sound very well, but it's just not usually what I'm itching to listen to when I'm on a Deftones kick.

I still hope one day, maybe after they're done as a band, they decide to release the Eros sessions in whatever stage they're in. I honestly don't even care if they're finished, I don't even care if I'm not actually thrilled with it after hearing it, I just really really need to hear it lol.

Also please someone hook me up with Entertain Me. ;(

If Eros never gets released I’ll be verrrrry miffed.

They should at least officially release Smile. Which they never did correct?

I personally think Saturday Night Wrist, Koi No Yokan, Diamond Eyes are their best records to date.

Koi No Yokan is my favorite Deftones record period. Probably always will be too.

The cool thing about this band is that everyone’s rankings are correct.

Yeah, i mean I ain't gonna be mad at any ranking as long as Adrenaline isn't on top lol. They're maybe the most consistent band I can think of.

Before my recent binge, I think my ranking was S/T>KNY>WP>ATF>SNW>DE>Gore>Adrenaline. I think I just kinda realized that, while the moments I really love on KNY are very special and give me a feeling I don't get on any of their other releases, I do think it loses me a bit in the back half, whereas White Pony and Around the Fur are pretty much consistently good to great front-to-back.

  22. Adrenaline could 100% be someone’s favorite. There are some absolute bangers on there.
