someone asked Sandy the murphy question just now.... "we have jose reyes now". I swear to god that was his answer. So basically Sandy said "Reyes > Murphy"

I liked the Walker/Cabrera (even if Cabrera is hurt now) move for the infield. Its easy to forget Murph's flaws when he's doing well on the Nats.

Anxious to see what the Yankees do with all of these prospects. Im hoping they build through them and fill in through free agency around them but that depends if the young guys play out. My gut says they will be going hard for Harper and Hernandez.

He is kinda running out of time, he has one year left to fulfill Olney's comment and he wasnt giving the Mets any reason to play him as he was doing average in a hitter friendly park and league.

his full comment so to not take it out of context "we have jose reyes now, we have flexibility for the infield...and that a few other infield prospects are looking more promising down the road instead of dilson".

Are the Mets going to move the fences in again for Jay Bruce?

Calm yourself, I said the Mets are high on him while many others are not. His scouting report gives him a 55 hit tool and says he can play second everyday but not to expect much more from him.

haha someone just asked Terry "how are you going to choose your lineup to maximize both offense and defense"...

    terry "lol"

Another question to terry "what's going to happen to conforto"

    terry "no idea"

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

They have to develop. Maybe you can turn the glut of shortstops into one good piece at some point but no reason to make any rash move the next two years. Maybe they add Chapman again next year which would be fine. But yeah, they have to be gearing up to go after two big guys in 18. They'll probably be all in on those two. Machado and Harvey will be there too. I forget who else. Maybe Kershaw but I think they stick with young to offer a long contract. As boring as they'll be to watch for a bit, that's at least how excited for the future I am now haha.

Guess only time will tell how this will work out for the Mets. I deff didn't know if getting Ces last year was going to change anything or not. If they pull off a miracle like last season though. All these bandwagon bros are gonna come out of the woodwork again saying "they knew this was a good idea all along and blah blah..."

i literally just pulled a quote that talked about scouts from other teams indicating they thought herrera would be a big time player. if this trade shows anything, it's that the mets didn't covet herrera enough.

2018 will be interesting. There are a lot of teams supposedly laying low money wise until 18 to make a run at them. Dodgers are supposedly willing to still have no limit to what they spend, Phils are supposedly holding tv revenue aside already and will have little on the books to make a big splash, Yankees, and Cubs (though will be interesting if Heyward doesnt opt out and they are stuck with that deal) are all said to be looking to spend a lot that offseason as well.

if it works out, great, but i'll put it on paper now....i dont like this deal and honestly it's not because i haaaate Bruce. If Granderson was out for the year and we were straight up replacing him, then i'd love it OR if Granderson is going to the bench, then i'd be okay with it too....but we acquired a square peg when we really needed a round one.

I was actually on the more radical side of wanting to be "sellers" if anything. I think the baseball gods have told us loud and clear that "2016 isnt our year"

It's rather incredible how well they are making out in these trades. Obviously time will tell but the excitement will be worth the wait. I'm surprised ownership is buying in to this rebuild but it's for the best.

Harvey, Price, and McCutchen will also be free agents in '18 but I don't see us going after them unless we get a cut rate deal.

I'm gonna go ahead and pre-order my 2017 Aaron Judge jersey now lol

I'm really surprised JD pulled all that off without giving up Profar/Gallo. We lost a lot of pitching but if it works out this year and this lineup plays to its potential there isn't much that'll stand in our way now. So excited for the rest of the season now, crazy crazy
Sure are, as well we should!

    ETA: 2016

Moderate risk OFP: 50 Realistic Role: 45, utility

Hit 55 Plus bat speed allows him to make up for some fundamental mistakes. Noticeable bat wrap around head causes loop in swing path to the ball and a longer swing than a player of his size should have. Wants to get swing started early but doesn't have to; bat speed would allow him to wait back. Will expand the strike zone for breaking stuff. Natural bat-to-ball skills are there to go with bat speed but needs to refine mechanics of swing and bat path.
Power 40 Good pop for a shorter player; a product of plus bat speed and strong, compact body. Wants to get hands extended to drive the ball. Should hit for gap power but sometimes sells out for fly ball power. Could hit 10-12 home runs in a season.
Baserunning/Speed 60 Quick first step, above-average speed underway. Will bunt for hit and steal a base but not game-changing speed.
Glove 50 Plus range at second base due to quick first step and athleticism. Much more fluid on balls side to side than routine ground balls. Sits back on heels and his athleticism/hand-eye coordination help bail out average hands. Comfortable on pivot at 2nd for double plays. Would be out of position at short stop.
Arm 50 Plenty of arm to make all of the throws at second base, but not enough at short; not enough carry to make throw to 1st from 5/6 hole. Quick release helps on balls up the middle at 2B and on DP turns.
    Overall

Despite plus athleticism, Herrera doesn't have any standout baseball tools. His best asset is his plus bat speed but he's still figuring out how to use it. If he refines his approach, he could be an above-average hitter at second base with moderate power for the position and some value on the bases. Most likely, however, is a utility role at second base and possibly in the outfield, where his athleticism would translate well.

that is his scouting report. Yeah, he could go on to hit his 90% projections for the rest of his life, but more likely, this is what he is going to be.
