Nice to see Nite Ratz in there, that was in hot contention for my 5th spot.

 

nite ratz is the hotelier song that gets me close to crying

 

I associate that song with one of the darkest moments of my life (as referenced in this thread earlier this year) so it means a lot to me

 

I love piano player top 5 song on the record for me now. I hated it as a single too haha.

Also I've officially gone one week since listening to the album.. Didn't think it was possible but i did it.

 

I love Piano Player now but on my first couple of listens to the album it was probably one of my least faves

 

I only spin this every couple weeks or so.

Hated Piano Player as a single, I like it fine in the context of the album but I still think it's a meh song by itself

 

I definitely enjoy Piano Player more than I did at first, but it's also close to the bottom of my preferred songs on Goodness. It's actually my least favorite song on Goodness if I'm not counting the intro and the interludes, but I enjoy those as well as Piano Player too so Goodness is a great album.

 

I love Piano Player. I love Discomfort too. Both among my least favourites on their respective albums.

 

I could try to list favourite songs off this album but I'd end up putting 2/3s of them down. That said, I don't think any of them would necessarily work as well outside of the context of the album - i.e. if I put 'Sun' on a playlist I doubt it would hit me as hard as 'Dendron' does as a single song, but for where it sits on the album as a whole it just crushes me.

 

Yeah that's definitely where I struggle in terms of ranking songs. For both this album and Home, it's like there are individual songs that I love but more so in the context of the album. I always struggle to recommend that album because I feel like every song benefits from listening to it within the album (and even better to sit down with the actual lyrics in front of you).

 

I wanna put Goodness pt 1 in my top five but I'm not cause it's a b side and I'm cheating to have more songs.
I sat here for a few minutes trying to rank them, it's not working so I gave up. I don't ever listen to the songs outside the context of the albums anyway so whatever lol

 

Your Deep Rest, Dendron, Intro, Soft Animal, Settle the Scar. In that order.
Wish I loved Two Deliverances as much as others seem to. It's good but not among my favourites from the album -- I'd place the above Goodness tracks plus Sun and End of Reel above it. I'd put it on pat with Piano Player and You In This Light.

 

Piano Player definitely does not get enough love. The distant vocals at the beginning leading into when the bass kicks in gets me so excited every time. And the lyrics for the final "Sustaiiiiiiiin" are beautiful:

"Inside your room there’s 40 few
remaining figures of new moons 

to curve around your axle heart 

in hopes that something new will start.
The things you grow are set to die.
You cling to them with knuckles white. 

So wind me up, damper to floor 

and I don’t know if I know love no more."

Overall, I think the whole concept of the song is really great. That nothings meant to stay around forever but you try to hold onto it as long as you can.

 

I think I'm gonna have to listen to this album now

 

Fear Of Good is such a nice little curveball and does a great job of adding to the bands diverse soundscape.

 

Fear Of Good is the only song on here I'm still not in love with

 

Yeah I don't really love Fear of Good either. It's ok.

Me too but I love the other interludes.

 

Right, okay. I enjoy all the interludes and I think they're all important to the album, but I don't generally think of interludes the way I do most other songs

 

You In This Light is my least favorite on here still

 

I loooove that song.
