The Chariot were a little too riff soup for me but their later albums have some good songwriting.

Rise Against were my fav band when Appeal to Reason came out (first album I ever pre-ordered!) and even I was somewhat underwhelmed at the time. They never recovered. I didn't think the last record was terrible though!

  3. Sufferer was the one that they lost me with, though some of it did grow on me a bit over time.

Sufferer is good and has plenty of heaters. Injection, Under the Knife, Drones, Survive, etc

I hate Prayer of the Refugee though. bad song

This is not to talk ill of Zach Blair who is by all accounts a very good guitar player and solid guy but man they dove off a cliff when Chris Chasse quit

I gotta hand it to Rise Against though. Sufferer came out in 2006 when I was in high school and I was on a very clear path to joining the Air Force and that album (along with For Blood and Empire) literally convinced me not to join the military. I was 16 and thinking for the first time man...Americas a real dick.

I agree that Rise Against definitely started sucking hard once they got spins on butt rock radio. But I also appreciate they didn't try and to do a bunch of other "Swing Life Away"s. That song is so fucking good that I can't see it being replicated.

  8. Definitely agreed, those are among my favorite tracks on it now. I think it was mainly the singles that drove me away from it to begin with, all of which I still really dislike

I would be happy if I never hear Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now or We Will Rock You, just to name a few, ever again. We disagree on Stones though.

I won't say Pink Floyd sucks but I am extremely indifferent about them

David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist. Meddle—>The Wall is a ridiculous stretch of albums.

    hmmm

Queen have become revered in ways that would seem slightly ridiculous, I suspect, pre-Mercury's tragic demise. They were an absurd, over-the-top band; they wrote an impressive number of big singles and have some interesting albums but that they're treated by quite a lot of people these days as a more serious proposition seems odd to me.

And Brian May's guitar tone is smugness in musical form.

Have thought this for a while too. Get the impression that Tim maybe took over the guitar parts almost entirely. Things were certainly more interesting with both Tod and Chris around.

His guitar tone is utter ass.

Y'all suck. The rhythm section of the Stones might be the best rhythm section of rock music, Floyd had one of the best five or six album runs of basically any band, and Queen is better than both of them. Get real.
