I get big "Bernie should just drop out and consolidate behind warren since she sits closer to center" vibes

No official verbiage on whether warren should drop out - only on how Bernie isn't viable.

i think if bernie has her on his ticket, we get a better ratio of her voters going to bernie over biden. I hated the idea of having both of them on the same ticket, but this looks like it's the best option now. It's not guaranteed they'd beat biden at the convention, but it's the best shot rn i think.

if biden has her on his ticket it's over.

I’ve been thinking Biden needs to pick a POC VP but maybe he’s strong enough with black voters that he doesnt absolutely need to? And that could maybe open it up to Bernie or Warren as a “unity ticket”? I just feel like I’d rather have both them not in a useless spot, and also think they both don’t like Joe enough to do it hah

Really don't want to lose Liz in the Senate since the Mass. gov is a republican and he gets to appoint the replacement once the seat is vacant. But, also don't want to lose to Biden/Trump either so, I'm fully behind Bernie/Warren now.

Mass is very blue, she's just very unpopular there. No idea what Charlie would do since he's considered a liberal republican and those went extinct 50yrs ago but I believe there would be a quick election a few months later.

Bloomberg gave $500 million to Abrams GOTV organization and then she said it was good he was in the race or some shit like that. I think her odds of being bernie's VP are over.

  10. I think it still favors Biden, but there's still a lot that could happen. Things can swing fast. So he's not locked in. (This is the best case scenario. The other is most dem voters watched Super Tuesday and went "ok that's the guy, let's just do this, end the primary so we can vote against Trump" and it's a blowout from here on out.) But if the next few states show the same swings in who is coming out and decided as last night, then we would really need other events, like a massively good debate to swing things back and have people get a little buyers remorse.

I thought this thread (from the guy that called Bret Stephens a bed bug) was interesting this morning.

My guess right now is very little. I think Biden needs to reach out to the left side of the party, but I think he'll be thinking WOC for the VP spot. That pick is gonna be important to me because he's old af and if I can at least be a little excited about his VP that would be nice for the next few months.

To be clear, my question isn’t about Joe getting Liz now, but rather about her becoming his VP after it’s all over.

As long as Bernie has a 1% chance, I’m Team Bernie. And, honestly, distrustful of Liz. I’m just trying to imagine damage control situations if it ends up being Joe.

Bernie is better off nominating someone not well known for vp. Having to defend against both “Bernie’s a commie” and “Pocahontas” is not something I wanna deal with.

that was my Joe VP list. But even for Bernie, 500m to GOTV efforts sounds pretty huge. If in return Stacey had to do a bit of song and dance for a candidate that did bad enough that he dropped out super Tuesday... I'm okay with that trade. Stacey would still make a good VP for him too

Really depends what he has to do to get the endorsement in the first place, he might have no choice if this is what his data says

I think Bernie really should come out this week and announce his VP pick just to take some coverage away from Biden (especially if he can get Warren to be VP)

It feels like the Ted Cruz desperation move of 2016, but I think it has to be done.

    just gotta keep focused

  17. He needs something. I hope big rallies with all his endorsers are in the works. Show strength.

But then I'm the guy that wanted him to go for a knockout after Nevada and do whatever he could to bring in Warren right then before the consolidation of the Biden-bots, so I just offer random advice in the background now lol

The type of person Bernie needs to pick as a VP in order to win over the moderates and secure the nomination in a contested convention is the type of person who prefer Biden win the nomination and thus wouldn't want to agree to be Bernie's VP at this point in the contest

Here's the thing about rallies, Bernie had some yuuuuge ones in states where biden completely wrecked him so unfortunately idk what to think. It doesn't seem like that translates as much as it does on the right, not that he should stop doing them but there's got to be something he hasn't tried yet idk

Also why the fuck would he pick a vp before he even has the nomination? Has that ever happened before?

  23. David87

    Prestigious Prestigious

yep, my exact thinking, don’t want to lose either of them in the senate tbh.

just had some shower thoughts here...Biden seems strong with black voters and women voters. He seems weaker with Hispanic voters and progressive voters....

...are we full circle to Julian Castro here?? It could be a risk not having a woman or a black person on the ticket but, if Biden is already doing well with those demos. And it gives you a boost in TX..

Or is that too easy and I’m under thinking it?

  24. Because he has to expand and build a coalition *right now* to win the nomination and that’s one possible way to try and appeal to the people they need. It’s a long shot. But I bet they’re thinking about it.

I would say Bernie needs to start hammering down that Biden has the same problems Hillary had and why she lost to Trump

    1. Trade deals - Trump was against the bad trade deals and destroyed Hillary's support for them in the debates. Biden was also for most of the trade deals
    2. Iraq war - Hillary showed bad judgement voting for as did Biden and I think that helped Trump
    3. Voters wanted change, not the status quo. Hammer on Biden being content on going back to where we were 4 years ago instead of truly wanting to push forward on change (though with the pro-Obama ad Bernie is running now it could cause some to see contradiction)

On top of that, he needs more big endorsements from members of congress. Though maybe he has already contacted everyone he could and they won't endorse him, who knows.
