My thinking is, when she was at that polling apex, how many more Of Bernie’s 12-15 percent were willing to come on board? If it was most of them, then she def has a case of being the strongest progressive candidate in the race in terms of being able to win. I’m just not sure how many folks were going to abandon Bernie considering how strong of a personality he is and how he’s personally responsible for kindling interest in politics for so many

Yesterday like 85% of his voters said they would vote in the general no matter who wins

I don’t think you promise to be a one termer in this political climate where weakness showed will get your political chances murdered....but I do honestly believe it’s at least a 50/50 chance right now he’s a one termer.

I think announcing ahead of time he'd be running for one term might go over poorly. Makes him look a little weak?

But I think its more likely than not that he doesn't actually run in 2024 even if he beats Trump. And so I think picking a fairly progressive VP is his right move.

Sure, I mean there are definitely a number of people who are staying home/undervoting if Biden gets the nomination, but outside a mostly small number of anti-electoral politics leaning lefties, the vast majority recognize that voting for the next-best progressive can still alleviate potential suffering of the most marginalized communities and would have voted for Warren if Bernie was dropping or not reaching viability in the polls.

He could pick a vp like that but not say he's stepping down after one term, right? That might be what happens. It'll be Chris Matthews allover again.

I should specify I mean in the primary, if it was possible she could win those folks in the primary back then, then i think you’d have to consider her broad appeal to different parts of the political spectrum would make her the more likely of the two candidates to be able to take the nomination. But 1. We never got that theory tested out because the media dismantled her with the paying for M4A thing, and 2. She would presumably still have the problems with black voters that Bernie is having so...idk

Yeah I mean it's obvious this is what happened. And everyone that wants to pretend like the highly coordinated effort to boost Biden on the eve of Super Tuesday wasn't responsible for it is delusional. The way the last three days of press went was enormously beneficial to Biden, and it was all for free too. This was the exact result that the establishment Dems and MSM wanted. It could not have gone better.

Yeah I think that’s probably true. But it would also mean going back in time and getting more Sanders fans on board back then to push her to the top and I guess that just wasn’t going to happen.
Not sure how much Bernie’s heart attack and subsequent AOC endorsement plays into all this too.

Idk, I’m depressed and I start rehashing the past in my head when I get like this hah.

I mean hey, i was right there supporting her last year, donating, buying merch, going to rallies, etc and I was more than happy to volunteer and help turn out voters for her if she was still up by the time the primaries were getting near. And I know other people in DSA in KC and Denver who were ready for the same because they knew the impact of what it meant of warren v biden/trump. But, bernie still kept being competitive, she had her ummm slip ups, whether her fault or someone else's, and it just didn't pan out like that. I get it, it sucks, but we gotta double down on making calls, texts, or other methods of volunteering for bernie these next few days for the next round of primaries.

When I woke up this morning, I thought, “well let me check my phone, I guess it can’t get much worse than when I went to sleep”.

I was wrong. I’m worried. I literally just don’t know what Bernie could do now to convince voters to jump from Biden/Bloomberg to him
