Actually I don't think they mentioned the banter tbh but I may have just blotted it from my mind

 

Four joke songs every night is kind of annoying too, especially now that they're dropping songs

 

Drop brohemian, add back on no future I say...or SOOHM...: or sober....basically any California song

 

I've grew out of joke songs, I never listen to any of them anymore. I have deleted Built this Pool and Brohemian from the album on my devices. I would be totally fine with the joke songs being left off the setlist and replaced with 2 tracks from California instead.

 

Yeah I don't get why they play FOUR joke songs live at each show

 

It's because they're trying to prove to the world "we're back to being our old, goofy selves, guys!!".

 

I don't mind them.

 

Show last night was awesome! Loved Skiba's Spurs jersey. Some things:

They'll never drop the greatest hits. Being in the pit for those songs and seeing the reaction they got. we're stuck with them forever. But I'm okay with that, they were a lot of fun.

Same with the joke songs, people still eat that shit up. I had a friend tell me he was stoked for Happy Holidays of all songs. I think that's just an aspect of the band that a lo of people really like, and like the greatest hits, they will always be present.

New songs, especially LA are fantastic live

Travis is a monster and they should never cut Violence.

 

Even though they've never been less funny than right now lol. It's aggravating watching songs like Josie, Wendy Clear, She's Out of Her Mind and other songs they've practiced sit on the sideline while four joke songs are played instead

 

I don't mind the joke songs when I'm say, listening to the album in full or something. Sometimes I chuckle and with friends drinking can be a chuckle to sing along to. Live though, I'd prefer actual songs over them in a heartbeat. I can see MAYBE keeping 1, a short one like built this pool. But live id prefer real songs.

 

You guys realize that all 4 joke songs barely add up to a full song, right?

 

Yeah I don't think they're cutting songs for the joke ones. They're so short already.

 

Adding up the total times for the joke songs, it is basically equal to give or take (I did a very rough calculation, basically they add up to 2.6 minutes) 10-15 seconds from California alone:

SOOHM
Rabbit Hole

Within 20-40 seconds of:
Left Alone
Sober
California
San Diego
Teenage Sattelites

All of which I would prefer over the jokes lol.

So you'd give up all joke songs, including Built this Pool, to hear one more song? :(

 

In a live setting, I sure would. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind if they kept one like built this pool since it's so short, and used the rest of the time for the shorter real songs like RH or SOOHM but live, I want to hear the songs. I don't mind the jokes, but if I can't have my cake and eat it too I'll choose a real song.

I like the joke songs, I just think they should play a longer set at this point. It is good to see some variation on this tour though.

 

This is true. I saw them in 09 and in 11 and they had the same set list basically except the addition of 3 neighborhoods songs on 11. While they were still both a blast It's nice to know I'll be seeing some change this go around.
